What the heck? What makes people think this is ok? There's an online petition for those who are interested on change.org
Excerpt: "But thanks to a dedicated group of individuals who decided this tiger has served enough time under the ownership of Michael Sandlin, people around the world are fighting for Tony's freedom. More than 10,000 members of the Change.org community have asked the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries to deny Tiger Truck Stop's permit when it comes up for renewal in December. Without the permit, authorities can remove Tony and place him in an accredited sanctuary, like Big Cat Rescue in Florida.
Now the Animal Legal Defense Fund has stepped in and filed a legal petition on Tony's behalf. ALDF is asking the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries to revoke and deny renewal of Michael Sandlin's permit to keep Tony. They're arguing that the permit is in violation of state law, in violation of Iberville Parish ordinances, and that LDWF's granting of the current permit was unlawful."
Oh my god, I just felt my heart break. I am so sad for Tony.

I've seen him and it's pretty heartbreaking. They used to have two there but they managed to get one out but were unable to get Tony as well, I guess. Last time I drove by I didn't see him, though, and thought they may have gotten him out because when I got online to look into it, it looked like someone was on the case. It's really REALLY depressing.

Some people think the world and everything in it is theirs to do whatever the hell they want with it. I bet people get out of their cars and think this is AWESOME. THey don't think past themselves. So shameful.
The reason he's probably gotten away with it so long is that tiger having is what we do here, apparently. We have a live tiger living on our campus at LSU, and it's kinda always a big deal. So when PETA protests it, everyone gets up in arms and is all shut up, he's ours, go away. And so this guy get away with keeping his too. It's kind of baffling that they spent so much energy protesting Mike the Tiger in his million dollar habitat when Tony was a few miles down the road in that thing.
