So a video of Miley Cyrus leaked of her hitting a bong...filled with what her publicists claim is salvia. A hallucinogenic that is legal in California.

Why would they think it was better to claim she was smoking salvia?! At least pot is semi-legal and people can relate to it!

Also, I youtubed videos of people smoking salvia and it looks nothing like what she was going through. Why lie so blatently?

I think hearing little Miley Cyrus smoked a legal substance is a lot different then hearing she smoked illegal marijuana to most of non-California USA.

Salvia is not even the same as pot. at all. the affects are completely different.

Right. Completely different plant. And I believe salvia is supposedly more of a hallucinogenic drug than cannabis is.

she has a really weird voice. she looks pretty in the video. and CLEARLY she has smoked ~things~ before because she didn't even cough!

Salvia affects different people in very different ways; I've never used, but I've heard many stories from friends, and based on their descriptions that looks more like a salvia experience than a pot experience to me. She mentions that she's having a "bad trip"--you don't "trip" on pot--and she becomes convinced her boyfriend looks like someone else. Then, towards the end, she begins speaking unintelligibly. None of those things are normally associated with marijuana use(but all are associated with salvia) and weed probably would've taken longer to take effect(that's assuming she didn't take any hits before the recording began).

I don't think she'd allow a video of her to be taken of her smoking pot. I think she figures she's just badass enough to allow a video to be taken of her that's her smoking something legal-but-at-first-glance-doesn't-look-legal because she's 18 and invincible.

That's really all I could think when I heard this. And then in my head I heard the new Miley Cyrus impersonator on SNL (who is fantastic) saying "Drugs are...pretty cool".

I hate that her Dad tweeted that apology. If you are going to publically apologize before your daughter does, maybe at least do it the old fashioned way. Sending a statement to Fox news.

Also it's not JUST legal in California. I know it's legal in Texas for sure and I think it's also legal in AZ... Something about how it grows naturally here so they can't make it illegal? I dunno. I never really looked into it, but that's what a friend told me. The "trips" are pretty off-the-charts, though! One friend hallucinated that he was Mr. Incredible. Another thought the couch was literally trying to eat him.

Leslie (or whoever the other girl is) is kind of a bisque for selling the video to TMZ getting her phone stolen.

I too am outraged at Billy Ray's statement. Did he learn nothing from the Dina Lohan school of parenting? Your talentless child is rich! She doesn't need to be held accountable for anything! She's practically Jesus, and if anyone says otherwise it's just because they're jealous.

It definitely is, she seems way too "normal" in this veideo to be on salvia, it's like a mini mushroom trip.
