According to this article,

Quote:
Each episode, volunteers will head out to the farm to meet, care for, and then slaughter and eat a wide variety of tasty creatures.

I wanted to look at the possibility that maybe it will make people think about the animals they are eating. But somehow, I think it will just be more exploitation at the expense of those "tasty creatures". Ugh.

No, it will make people feel better about eating meat. Because people are nuts. "I love how respectful they were toward the animals!" "It all seems so natural!"

Why, yes, it does obscure what goes on in factory farming!

I found it interesting viewing here in the uk, although you are all correct in thinking it is part of the movement to sell people guilt free food and generally ignore the issue of factory farming. None of the episodes I saw made any reference to meat coming from somewhere other than these dinky little family run farms. The very first episode even opened with some guy strolling down a supermarket meat aisle complaining that people aren't connected to their food or the origins of the surrounding aisles' contents anymore (fair point) - cue immediate cut to this small scale traditional farming base with a makeshift studio set up in the slaughterhouse where they did demos of one animal at a time with a whole team of workers each and a vet on site. This is honestly where people can believe their two for one, water injected, camphylobacter ridden chicken breasts come from? Please. Kill it, excuse it, wank over it.
