We were taken over by the GOP this last cycle.

The head of the Senate Judicial Committee was arrested and fined for having an open container. This was LEGAL until only about 6 years ago, so some people think nothing of buying a beer for their long drive across the state. It's still not even a misdemeanor, more like a traffic stop.

Bills have been created to:
allow spear hunting
prevent establishing bison outside of The Park and one fenced bison range
prevent undocumented workers from drawing workers' comp
criminalize offense involving death of an unborn child
make it easier to kill grizzlies despite endangered status
repeal prohibition on gun silencers
require ultrasound prior to abortion
nullify federal healthcare laws
and really too, too many others to list.

Looking at the dead ones is also really interesting and equally depressing.

I used to live in Arizona. I sure know how to pick my states.

I'm ok with this, as long as we outlaw high-capacity atlatls.

Ha, I was going to say "Hey at least you don't live in AZ!" But yeah, it sounds like your politicians are a little more wacko. Just a little.

And what's the deal with silencers? Who needs a silencer other than spies and Navy Seals? Does Montana have vigilante Navy Seals?

Assassins need silencers. Clearly the state is trying to claim a niche as the assassin-friendly state.

Why would they require an ultrasound before abortion?

To make an already emotionally ordeal even more painful in the hopes that the woman will change her mind.

Thanks, guys! I feel a little better. And I DO need to make my voice heard. I just feel so out-numbered.

I may be wrong, but I think in some states, they don't just make you get an ultrasound, but they require that the "developmental features" must be pointed out to the patient (heart beat, etc). The point, 100%, is to try to upset those getting abortions.

Yup. I was reading about how somewhere in the U.S. (I forget where...) doctors were required to inform the woman that the fetus is a nascent life form, and sign something stating that they believe the patient understands.

Women are just too stupid to realize that pregnancies result in babies, I guess.

I can't remember exactly what I was told (in Arkansas), but I believe they also told me that there was a link between abortion and breast cancer and abortion and later infertility. I had to have an ultrasound, but I didn't have to look at it (the nurse made sure to ask me if I wanted to see and moved the monitor when I said that I did not). There was also something about the fetus being a form of human life and I had to indicate that I understood.

Mad admiration for all those men and women who have to daily balance compassionate patient care while being forced to share bullshiitake "facts" and make people look at ultrasounds. It is unreal.
