Ten of the precincts that haven't reported for SD 8 are in Waukesha.. that worries me. Same place where the county clerk "discovered" the uncounted and mostly republican votes that pushed the supreme court race back to the repub.

DKos says Waukesha won't be reporting for at least an hour. I'm gonna go read novels for an hour, I guess.

They ALSO think Pasch won't win, for what it's worth. Boo.

Yeah, I'm not too optimistic... guessing that a lot of the outstanding Milwaukee precincts are ghost precincts with no voters, and anything coming out of Waukesha is likely gonna be nuts.

Rumor has it that folks have collected more than the required number of signatures to force Walker into a recall election. Petitions should be filed soon!

Is this new news? I heard the other day that Walker was going to make people pay $50 an hour for protest permits per cop based on the number of police the city/state determined would be necessary to control the protest...i.e. if you want to protest anything you have to pay us to do it first - and if it's something serious where lots will protest, it's going to cost you a fortune.

BRAND new news. From the Journal-Sentinel, 30 minutes ago: Recall group says it has over 500,000 signatures
We need 540,208 total, but are aiming for over 700,000 to help guard against the inevitable slew of Republican challenges -- because they're going to be fighting EVERY signature every step of the way. I have about a dozen signatures waiting to be sent in, with many blank petitions to go.
In no way does the successful collection of these signatures mean that Scott Walker and Rebecca Kleefisch are going to be recalled; it just means that a recall election will be held -- there aren't even candidates lined up to run against them. I'm an absolute political junkie and have yet to hear about even ONE remotely serious contender.

And yes, a policy was put into place about two weeks ago stating that if you want to protest in any public area of any State facility, you may have to pre-pay $50/hour/cop for a "protest permit." It goes into effect tomorrow, December 16.
But don't worry -- even though you need a permit if FOUR or more people are going to attend a protest inside the Capitol grounds, outside the Capitol grounds, only you'll need a permit if you expect 100 or more people to attend! Here's the full text of the new Wisconsin State Facilities Access Policy [PDF], and the relevant paragraph (section II, subsection E, page 6):
This is to say nothing about the state GOP (led by the unfathomably vile Jeff Fitzgerald) actively campaigning to get their ostentatiously and obnoxiously Republican-favoring redistricting maps passed ahead of the recall, specifically to make it harder to recall sitting GOP senators, let alone Walker's massively unconstitutional attack on voting rights, which is currently being challenged by the ACLU. Goodbye, first amendment; hello, poll tax! Wisconsin is open for motherforking business, y'all!

Bonus: Walker and Fitzgerald are suing Wisconsin's elections and ethics agency, as well as suggesting the non-partisan Government Accountability Board should be replaced, all in a not-even-closed-to-veiled attempt to invalidate the recall.
I'm sure it's a total coincidence that they decided to do this on the same day that United Wisconsin announced that they had gathered all but 30-odd thousand of the signatures required to force a recall election. You know, they're just looking out for Wisconsin's best interests!
