The audio is amazing to listen to. Listening to history being made, with all the good and bad arguments. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2 ... ments.html

i feel embarassed this is an issue.
i mean seriously, like let people marry whomever they want. i feel like we live in the stone ages. (paleo!)
it really makes me sad for people who are so against it it's like their main cause in life to be against gay marriage. makes me think their life is sad.

CBC is saying that they might not rule at all: http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/story/2013 ... riage.htmlI don't get their objections. Genderless marriage has been around in various times and cultures, marriage itself has many cultural and religious definitions, and several countries have legalized genderless marriage and we haven't collapsed into the sea yet, and I don't understand it being American policy to wait hundreds of years before changing any policies.

But we have never in the history of history done things any differently from the way we do them right now!

Scalia and his "tell me what date it magically became unconstitutional" argument was so pathetic.

I'm not following the arguments closely, but from what I understand my balls are full of marriage licenses?

When are we all going to learn that the majority can't rule on civil rights for minorities? Why isn't this just a no-brainer?

Why isn't this just a no-brainer? if it makes you feel any better, this is what's happening in my backyard: the head of the human rights commission, which rules on human rights abuses including GLBTQ, racism, gender, etc hate crimes, is a white evangelical pastor who is not only an open homophobe [explained in detail here http://globalvoicesonline.org/2013/03/1 ... -anti-gay/ ] but also has said something to the tune of "black people are cursed by god" for their sins, the penalty being that they are born black. (Last I checked that was what my evangelical buddhist cult auntie believes too but that's neither here nor there.) So far he's said he would quit but last night he was on the news having finally removed all protesters from the congress and swearing that he could be impartial and fair. uh huh, tell me another.

Decision could come down as early as tomorrow and definitely by the end of the month, which might make for the best NYC Pride weekend ever, if it goes the right way. http://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/Ba ... 30381.htmlBay Area is getting ready for a lot of weddings! <3 <3 <3 Also, today is Loving Day! On June 12, 1967, the Supreme Court ruled in Loving vs. Virginia that prohibitions on interracial marriage were unconstitutional, and interracial marriage became legal across the nation.

I'm also on pins and needles awaiting the ruling on Prop 8/DOMA. I have to say, I get driven kind of crazy by the kind of articles like the one Tofulish posted. Oh really, gay weddings are going to be happening if Prop 8 is ruled unconstitutional? YA DON'T SAY. I mean, I understand- it's hard to report on something that's about to happen but you have no idea *what's* about to happen.
No matter what the ruling is (and I honestly don't see how any logical human looking at the text of the law and our constitution could rule in favor of depriving any one group of citizens their rights), it's going to be a wild rollercoaster for me with lots of tears. The head organizer I worked with at No on Prop 8 died unexpectedly (car crash) less than a month ago, so her absence will definitely be felt on the day of the big decision.

At this point, I am thinking DOMA probably will be struck down, because would you want to be the justice that upholds DOMA right before the Stonewall anniversary? If they were going to polish that turd I think the decision would should've been released Friday. It just has to go. They're going to start a riot or something otherwise (in addition to allowing second class citizenship to stand and an incredibly confusing set of laws to apply and all the other long term harms).
