so i just was at B&B last night and asked the bartender about that. he either said "it might not happen, but if it does, it won't open until the new year" or he said "it's not going to open til the new year." i think the latter...i just know i was bummed about what he said. they're having trouble with building codes and such...i think...i was a bit tipsy when i was talking to him so my memory isn't being so hot with the facts.

I have been out of town for over 3 months and have not ONCE stopped craving Los Gorditos.

What do you usually order? Every time I go, I'm underwhelmed. Their soyrizo burrito < King Burrito veggie fajita burrito.

we are huge gorditos fans. we go at least 1-2/week. dazee always gets the regular vegan burrito sans rice and i usually get the tofu bowl with soy curls instead of tofu. that one is lovely and feeds me 2-3 meals. it's just a bunch of beans, some rice, some salad, soy curls, avocado with several steamed tortillas.

there's been once or twice when i was severely underwhelmed, most memorably underwhelmed was with the regular burrito. no protein besides the beans. booooooooring. people talk highly of their beans but refried is not my preference for a burrito and...there just wasn't anything exciting about it.

i love: tofu or soy curl torta (my favorite, awesome every time!) and soy curl gorditas. i wish they'd bring back the tostada...

I want to go back so badly. I tried to copy pretty much everything I ate there when I came back home from visiting my friend there. I'm always on the lookout for cheap cheap tickets. When I went I only paid $200 round trip (yeah Southwest sales. woot!)

A meet up would be rad. We should have it soon if it's a food cart type on account of the weather. On another note, anyone try the new sauces at los gorditos? I love the smokey tasting one.

Howdy Portland,

Apparently I registered (cut and paste) the morning before the board changed, bust. I had initially asked if anyone had any leads on finding a room in this city. It's proven really difficult with a dog. Almost comically difficult - yet after a month and a half it'd be rad to not be subletting or crashing at various friends homes. Someone came up with a suggestion for fliering and I created one at work the other day. Where are some good places in North, NorthEast Portland to post them? I just moved from Austin where there were a bunch of ads like the one I made in coffee shops but I haven't seen anything similar here.

I'm also trying to start up a new house if I can't find a room share but people from Craigslist have been flakey at best. If y'all know of a room or someone looking that wants to collaborate and get together like Voltron and create something rad, that would be most excellent!

Thanks and hopefully I'll see some of you out and about!

how much can you afford? we just moved out of a dog friendly apartment across from laurelhurst park--se 37th and stark. it's a really nice building in a great area, but the rent was almost 1000, and it was only one bedroom.

kittee, thanks for the suggestion. 1000 is more than I'm looking to spend alone. My friend put me in touch with his friend who needed a housemate in North Portland. I'm going to move in with her for a few months and hopefully start a house after the new year once I meet some people who may want to get in on this.

If anyone is into cover bands, this show is happening on Saturday where I'm currently staying:

# twisted sister
# judas priest
# wipers
# the gits

Most of them are playing the night before at Fuckets but with a Bikini Kill and Zounds cover band. Going to be sooooo good.
