Since so many of you have asked- I thought I would post a quick update on Patrick and his progress fighting lymphoma.
So yesterday was Patrick's (aka Psycho Kitty and Atilla the Vet Killa) big day with the ultrasound to see how the chemo was working and the news is (mostly) - well great.
His intestinal lining is back to a normal thickness and he only has one slightly swollen lymph node which means he is close to a partial remission.
He weighed in at 15.5 pounds (thanks to the steroids as well as all the treats from his mommy as well as his many other admirers), his white blood cell count is good and he is sitting next to me on the couch purring away as I type this.
The only fly in the ointment is he continues to be a bit anemic and its now apparent that this wont go away by itself- so now we need to add another medicine (an iron supplement) on top of his anxiety medicine, his steroids and his chemo :(
It also means that we need to go to the vet more frequently for rechecks which is always big fun (the silver lining is that I spoke to the vet and since we need to go so often they are willing to apply Soft Claws on him. I can never get him to sit for this- and it will hopefully save some of the skin on my arms and hands from being quite so mauled at medicine time).
He hasn't lost any fur (well except for on his tummy where they needed to shave him for the ultra sound) and I don't think he has vomited once. So other than being anemic he is tolerating the chemo well.
I was going to try to post a picture but he gets very camera shy whenever his belly is shaved.
So that's where we are- thanks again for all of the positive thoughts and please keep them are coming- they are obviously working.
