My top lip has been dry and chapped for over a week now, I need something ASAP. My health food store only sells Burt s Bees and and some really expensive Crazy Rumors colored gloss, so I need something vegan that I can get from Walgreens, hopefully medicated. I've tried oil but that's not helping much, plus not really convenient for work.

can you get that ShiKai Borage lotion at Walgreens? I would scrub at the lip with a damp washcloth to get rid of dead skin, then slather on several layers of the lotion, you could top that up with shea butter or something too. Keep exfoliating and applying lotion often till it's better.

I really like Avalon Organics Vitamin C Lip Balm, but it's only available at Whole Foods, etc. I also like the Crazy Rumors balm (not gloss). If you can get your hands on some raw shea butter, glob a bunch of that on at night, and you should wake up with soft lips :)

In Australia we have paw paw ointment, but don't know if you can get that in the US?

Don't about how you feel about vaseline, but globbing it on before bed and letting it soak in while you sleep is like, the best thing ever. I had super chapped lips once and it healed me up super quick.

I have a different kind of cocoa butter balm, but i'm really hoping for something medicated. Or possibly that will just saw my lips off for me.

Pure Vitamin E has worked pretty well for me when I've had super chapped lips. I just poke a hole in a Vitamin E capsule with a pin, squeeze the goo out, and smear that all over my lips. It's pretty messy and sticky, so I usually only apply it at night and use plain vaseline during the day.

in the hospital they used glycerin. if you can apply it regularly (and if you're sure it's vegetable) that's what i'd go with.

I've been using the Pure by Phytocare PawPaw Papaya ointment, I think it's the only vegan one available without petrochemicals. My lips are super dry thanks to the air conditioning in the office :/

I use my facial moisturizer on my lips morning/night in the winter (by use, I mean I deliberately rub it in and let it absorb a bit). It won't help much now, but it might help you maintain when you get them under control. It seems to make a big difference for me. I have a horrible vegan lip balm collection habit: I see one and I have to buy it. Problem is, they ALL mostly suck. Here is by far the best one that I've found, and the one that I am currently using. I got Orange Cream and the scent/flavor is ok: http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/b ... id=C2-1020

No good products are coming to mind. This may be obvious or unhelpful but just in case - try to drink as much water as possible. I had horribly chapped lips a few years back and upping my water greatly helped. I'd try the cocoa butter too - at least till ya get something better. Good luck. Hope they feel better quick.
Also someone suggested that I take lysine when mine were jacked. Don't recall it being to helpful but mayne it's worth a shot...

the only stuff that ever healed my lips was "blistex lip massage". like, overnight. drinking more water didn't help, i had some hemp lip balm that didn't work, lush balm didn't work, petroleum jelly was okay...it had gone on for like, 2 weeks, i think? but the blistex stuff was medicated so it healed my lips and sealed them. i'm not sure what you would find at walgreens that was vegan. i know petroluem jelly doesn't have any animal ingredients...you could probably find a jelly that is manufactured by the walgreens brand, because they don't test on animals. i hope my post helps you somewhat :(

Also making sure you eat enough healthy fats, etc. A humidifier in your bedroom can also help.
