Adam (who is five) wants to dress up as his alter-ego: SuperAdam. So this means I'm crafting a costume out of purple and orange (two of his favourite colours) microfleece.
Leah (who is two) does not really grasp the whole Halloween thing but loves to dress up, so I've decided that she will be Little Red Riding Hood. I have a sweet little chambray dress for her and I grabbed a basket from my mom the last time I was over there so all that's left is making her a red hooded cape.
I guess this means I'd better start sewing. Halloween is only nine days away!

The lentil (age 6) will be a ninja. He picked out his costume weeks ago and can't wait to wear it around. The peanut (age 3) hasn't committed to anything, and will pick something out of the costume box at the last second. I'm guess super hero, either batman or spiderman, but he could end up as Dory from Finding Nemo. You never know with the peanut.

Luna's going to be Hermione from Harry Potter. Her robe is the first thing I've ever sewed in my life! I'm very proud of it.

Um Keenie, those are AMAZING! I want you to me ME a costume!
Uli is going to be a bat. Mostly because I found a bat coat at St. Vinny's in the right size and she already had some black sweat pants, so... a bat it is! She's excited. We've hung it in the hallway and everytime she passes it she say, "Hah-oh-WEEN coa[t]."

Crantastic wrote: Um Keenie, those are AMAZING! This is, word for word, what I was going to respond with, heh. Before the kangaroo idea, the Emperor was going to be a pumpkin. I found a really really adorable pumpkin sweater (orange with yellow flecks and green on the sleeves and lower edge) at the Salvation Army for 50 cents and was going to pair it with green leggings. But the sweater is knit, and the wrists are super small and super tight... no stretch at all. I literally could not get the Emperor's HANDS through the openings, much less his pudgy little wrists. I'm sad but maybe it's for the best. My grandmother made me be a pumpkin when I was 5 or 6 (the same year I was really developing body issues (isn't that sad?) AND the same year my older sister got to dress as a baton twirlin' pretty pretty princess) in a huge round pumpkin costume and all I did was cry all day.

Thanks, guys!! coldandsleepy, is it just the wrist part that is very tight, or the whole arm? If it's just the wrist, you could cut the tight part off and then bind it with something else, like maybe a piece of an old t shirt (the stretchier, the better). Just cut a strip that is wide enough to fold over, and long enough to stretch to fit the opening of the wrist.

Well, he's already got the ninja chop down pat. He's been chopping everything in the house. Except me. I've told him ninja chopping mommy results in time outs.
