It is the candied walnuts, but I didn't heat up the syrup enough so it went grainy and pretty cool actually. It was a neat texture.

These look perfect. I like the pretty decorations as well. I adore maple syrup but I haven't found maple extract yet, though I'd love to make these. Along with maple-walnut cookies, mmm...
