I retired my 8 year-old emac and just bought a new laptop a few weeks ago. I'm getting left 4 dead but I am a super game noob. I haven't played anything outside of Zelda and Metroid for gamecube in a billion years. My steam name is machopineapple.

My husband picks up various games as he sees him on sale. I like Eufloria and finished it although I was working on the second 'level' but it just takes a lot of time, not sure if I have that much patience. Eufloria actually reminds me of Civ in some ways.
He said he just got a scary one on sale, I think it is Amnesia?
I love Civ and can't wait until Civ V goes on sale. I fell in love with Civ 2 I think it was, in college. Played many long nights.

Despite its questionable vegan-ness, I'm going to have to recommend Super Meat Boy for anyone who has a few bucks to lay down on a steam game. You run around and wall-jump like crazy. Like crazy, man!

The Monday Night Combat beta has started! http://store.steampowered.com/app/63200/This was an Xbox Live Arcade game first, with an official non-beta release in January. If you pre-order now, you get a 10% discount and you get into the beta which means you can start playing TODAY! MNC is a third-person, class based, action game. It's been compared to a mashup of TF2 and DOTA. Supposedly it's really fun! I'll be playing tonight, it'd be awesome to play with some PPKers!

Joined! Used to play Killing Floor, L4D, L4D2 and TF2 quite a bit. Did a lot of goofy speed runs and HLDJ micspamming with buds and strangers in the L4Ds. I also enjoy the TF2 skins making a few of the characters ladies instead of dudes (femedic, cutie-pyro and girl scout flicks the weasel). Currently excited about Killing Floor's Twisted Christmas event although the crawler reindeer are too cute to shoot. I want that Bad Santa!

http://store.steampowered.com/Oh my god It's the Steam holiday sale!!!!!! Day 1 isn't a bad offering. The F.E.A.R. pack for $9.99 is criminally cheap. The Deus Ex bundle is a pretty good deal, even if the quality of both games is suspect. If you hate yourself and love insane platformers, Super Meat Boy for $3.75 might be a good deal even if it's completely janked for PC unless you're using an Xbox 360 controller. I personally only picked up The Oddbox, because I know both of the Abe games are good, and I never got to play Stranger's Wrath. I've put myself of a pretty tight budget for this year's ABSOLUTELY INSANE sales. This is going to be a long 13 days.

I bought lego batman for 4.99 and Civcity rome for .99 cents. I told my husband to look at the indie packs because those are generally good.

And there are games on sale outside of the daily deals! The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbotton is 50 forking cents! 50 cents! And if you're even remotely interested in one of the games in one of those indie packs, you may as well buy the whole thing because chances are that one game alone is selling for $5 or more seperately. During the Post-Thanksgiving sale I bought two or three indie packs for $5, even though I already had at least one game out of each of them. I think I've bought World of Goo at least 3 times by now.

Day 2 is posted!
Not a super exciting day for me, with one big exception. Please buy The Witcher for $5. It's easily one of my favorite recent action RPGs and it'll get you up to speed before The Witcher 2 comes out in May! Defense Grid for $2 is supposedly one of the best tower defense games out there. Bioshock 2 was definitely decent and well worth $10. I've read good things about The Polynomial so check that out if you're into music and tripping balls.
I might get The Polynomial and Defense Grid. Or I'll save my less than $5 and see what tomorrow brings.

We did buy PB Winterbottom! 50 cents!
Also, my husband has been playing defense grid and he likes it a lot. We already have The polynomial but I've yet to play it.
We did buy one of the indie packs and he said he got a couple different games.

I just bought witcher and both bioshocks since they look kind of cool and I haven't played either of them (the first one is $5 if you search for it). My office is closed next week (I actually have the 23rd through the 2nd off) so I will probably rot my brain with games much of that time.

Spore! I've been wanting to try spore for a while but I've yet to see it below $29.99. It is $7.50.
Also, Bully is supposed to be good, its $3.75.

Day 3 and it's kind of a bummer for me, not that there aren't any quality games up today, just not much that I'm interested in.
Assassin's Creed 2 is, by all accounts, a huge improvement over the first game, and $12 isn't a bad price for those of us suckered into buying the first one. Recetear is supposed to be a really fun item-selling RPG, whatever that means. Chiatroll has sunk some serious time into it. Just Cause 2 was on sale during Thanksgiving, but if you missed it, here's another chance to get a really insane open world action game. Not a lot of good reviews on Alien vs. Predator but it's only $5. Bully is super cheap and is considered by some to be Rockstar's best game. That's about it for good deals on good games. The rest are either still a bit pricey for their age or not that great to begin with, in my opinion.
I'm passing on today. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Oh and if you hate yourself or you LOVE trains, Railworks 2 is only $6. Maybe I'll get it and see what all that amazing DLC they keep pumping out for it is all about. (no, I won't)

Railworks looks kind of amazing if you look at the pictures but... a game... driving trains? Yeah, no I'll pass.

From what I discern of the DLC, the developers intend on putting every train that exists now or has existed before into the game in the form of not-free downloads. Seriously, the base game must be nothing but a set of rails and menu for what train you would like to purchase and ride around on.
