Sun butter Sun butter and banana sun butter and a wee sprinkle of chocolate chips almond butter and banana (DUDE I AM OUT OF SUNBUTTER) apples and cinnamon
With rolled oats I don't even cook them, just heat the almond milk so I can melt the sun butter in it and defrost frozen banana. Add oats and by the time I get to work the soaking has softened them! Am I weird?

Shredded apple cooked in with the oats; sprinkle of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cardamom, cloves; brown sugar, maple, or agave if I want it sweeter; chopped pecans, walnuts, almond slivers, nut butter stirred in, or ground flax sprinkled on top; maybe some soy milk poured over, or cook with soy milk instead of water; dried fruits such as raisins, chopped figs, chopped apricots, craisins, dried cherries. I love my bowl of oatmeal and cup of coffee or tea on a winter morning. Almost worth getting out of bed for. Rarely, if it's a really bad morning, I'll stir chocolate chips into my oatmeal and let them get all melty. Also stir in some nut butter and a little brown sugar or maple syrup and getting out of bed starts to seem bearable. This also makes a quick and easy dessert like item on evenings when i want something sweet and gooey and warm, but don't want to take the time and energy to bake.

Some of my favorites:
Cocoa powder + PB Maple + frozen or fresh or dried berries + vanilla extract Craisins or dried cranberries + orange zest or extract Brown Sugar + cinnamon Tablespoon or two pumpkin puree + pumpkin pie spices (+ dried cranberries sometimes) Dices apples cooked in a little brown sugar and cinnamon (so they're soft...then I cook them in with the oatmeal.) Apple butter (I combine it with different stuff...sometimes maple syrup, sometimes just added spices)
I add a little earth balance to my oatmeal, too, and usually a dash of almond or soy milk. Vanilla extract seems to make its way into my oatmeal no matter else I put in it. I HATE nuts in my oatmeal...the crunch and texture just put me off...ruins it completely for me. Then again, I also don't think nuts belong in deserts and, with a few exceptions, I generally don't like to eat them plain in their whole form either (ground up in something or all creamy is awesome, though)...but I digress. This isn't a nut thread.
Yum. Oatmeal. That's what I'm having for breakfast.

Man, I love oatmeal. . . it's the most comfort-y breakfast ever. My favorite add-ins: -lots of cinnamon -nut butter (especially almond butter or sunflower seed butter) -jam/preserves (apricot preserves + almond butter = heaven) -ginger syrup or maple syrup

What is ginger syrup? Just syrup made out of ginger?

I mostly eat it straight up with a pinch of salt, a pinch of brown sugar (or sucanat or whatever I have around), and a pinch of cinnamon or cardamom or cloves or a combination thereof.
But I also like it with chopped fruit of any variety, especially apples. And I think that brown sugar and walnuts are really nice when you need a treat for breakfast.

Usually, I don't do anything special with my oatmeal, but I've been known to make gingerbread oatmeal with molasses or brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, and allspice. And one time at work, I found an orange spice tea bag that was fair game, made a cup, then used the tea as oatmeal cooking liquid. A little sugar, and it was one of the best things ever.

I am really boring, but I am suffering from fructose malabsorption and therefore i do not have much choice. I like my oatmeal plain with soy milk and rice syrup.

I usually just use diced, slightly cooked apples, cinnamon and a little raw sugar with water. A few weeks ago I was feeling frisky so I added Silk Very Vanilla in place of water but the cinnamon, sugar and apples. It tasted like cupcake batter. It was amazing.

ground flax seed, blackstrap molasses, maple syrup. In pretty much equal quantities with cinnamon sprinkled on top. Yeah, it's boring, but good for you.

This thread is making me so hungry -- I love oatmeal! My mainstays are banana, some sort of nuts or pumpkin seeds, ground flax, almond milk. The past couple of weekends I've made pumpkin spice oatmeal with pumpkin puree, raisins, cranberries and spices. Gingerbread oatmeal sounds like a great idea, especially since I have a new bottle of molasses.

Weekend oatmeal: oats with cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, brown sugar, chia seeds, flax seeds, chopped pecans, a little banana. Once cooked, I stir in almond milk and top with a little earth balance and a little more brown sugar.
Weekday oatmeal: the same, minus all the fat and sugar. a little agave instead of brown sugar, and definitely no earth balance haha.
I also like making muesli with grated apple, dates, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds, chia and flax!

I'm fairly traditional when it comes to my oatmeal: maple syrup, vanilla sugar and raisins if I have them on hand.

My usual mix is raisins, nut butter (or peanut flour, which is what I've been using lately), and ground flax. I'll add milk or banana if I'm feeling decadent.

Oatmeal is seriously my favorite food in the world. My go-to variety is cooked with molasses and topped with crushed flax seeds. If I want it super rich and creamy, I use non-dairy milk (usually almond, but coconut is good too).
Good combos: Cut up banana, cinnamon, and a dollop of peanut butter Cook it with a little bit of pumpkin and pie pie spice. Top with maple syrup. Cook with mashed up banana for a nice sweet oatmeal My fave right now: cook in almond milk with chopped up apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger = apple pie! If you have any stale cookies, they are always great in oatmeal fyi...
