"The man who verifiably worked (or works) with the FBI is now ensuring the new Firefox browser 'is the most secure browser out there'. Raising the question: how secure can a browser be when the man assigned to make it secure has a working relationship with the FBI?"

That's kind of forked up. I'm trying to get used to Google Chrome now.

I refuse to use google chrome because of the "accidental" gathering of data from wi-fi networks by the google street view cars......

I just can't believe google won't gather info about me through Chrome.

*I don't trust facebook that much either and don't use fb apps because I don't like that a simple game wants access to all my data etc.

This Justin Samuels may be a "snitch" and FBI informant, but Firefox is a free, open source project. You're free to download the source code and review it yourself. People not employed by The Mozilla Foundation do this every day. Any backdoor or FBI bug would be noticed.

The tone and content of this blog post reveal that the author has a personal vendetta against this guy. He can shiitake on Justin Samuels as a person all he likes but his accusations against Mozilla are unfounded and unsupportable.

I use gmail, so I already assume Google knows everything there is it know about it me and there's no longer anything I can do about it. Especially given their relationship with the CIA.

I'm not sure I'm going to stay with Chrome, but it was the most suggested browser when I said I wanted to leave Firefox.

I'm not sure why Firefox hiring this guy bothers me more than the Google/CIA thing. Maybe because he's a real person, not a faceless company. Or because of how much respect I have for the ALF. Or both.

If you want to use Chrome but you're concerned about your privacy, you could use Chromium.

http://www.chromium.org/

It's a free, open source browser utilizing the same code base as Chrome. I'm not entirely sure if Chrome is built off of Chromium or Chromium is built off of Chrome but the two are close enough in features and architecture that extensions built for one work on both.
