For a more dramatic/night/going out look, I'll rub a spot of black eyeliner on the pad of my thumb, then run the brush through that. Yes, brows are a GOOD thing! I use the Smashbox Brow Tech to Go, it's a powdery pencil with a setting gel. Seriously though, shadows are great for natural brows and YES, choose a shade much lighter than your hair color! Which shade do you use? I decided to start doing my brows but I don't know what color will look good and natural.

Hey guys, so I saw elf makeup at Target yesterday and they have an eyeshadow kit and you know how I'm trying to get up the courage to experiment with eyeshadow... are all of their eyeshadows vegan? Or, is that kit vegan? They had one for smokey eyes, and one that was browns/neutral...
It would be easy to get one thing and I could play with some different colors/try things.
Also, what brushes are essential? I sort of don't want to spend a lot until I'm convinced I want to be an eyeshadow wearer.

Meggs, according to their website, all of E.L.F.'s products are vegan (no animal ingredients, no animal testing.) I just bought a bunch of stuff, myself. It's so cheap!! I'll let you know what I think once it arrives.
As far as brushes for eye makeup are concerned, I use a concealer brush, an eye crease/shadow brush, and sometimes a very thin brush to apply "liquid eyeliner" (ie eyeshadow applied with dampened brush.) I also just ordered an angled eye brush. That's just me!

Yes, their make up is all vegan, but some of their brushes aren't. Studio Line and bamboo brushes are and are really great for the price.

I mostly use the EcoTools eye brush kit - it's like 7-8 bucks and comes with 5 brushes (flat, crease, highlight, mini flat, mini round). They're super soft and I really like them.

Was it the one on sale for $5? Because I totally bought that while shopping today and am excited to try it out.

I think I can get those EcoTools brushes at Ulta maybe. Yeah, gaia- the one that is on sale!! Did you get the smokey one or the natural one? I am torn because I think I look good in greys but the smokey one might have too many black shades in it... so maybe I should go with the natural/brown one. What say you, PPK makeup pros?

i think you should post a picture of your eyes/face so we can see which colours would suit you best. i think that browns/neutrals look good on everyone, and smokey eyes make it more obvious taht you're wearing makeup. if you're a fan of a natural look, then go for the neutrals. but i say, if you're gonna wear makeup, then BE forking FABULOUS.

Perhaps I will try neutrals first, to get accustomed to eye makeup and to try out the tutorials that amandabear introduced me to and then I will maybe try the other one once I am better at it so I can BE forking FABULOUS.

I have the neutral one - I have some of the colors on in my slight-panda eye today. The colors are hit and miss with pigment...You can't beat the $5 price tag though...

What say you, PPK makeup pros? I actually bought them both. I had bought the natural one, and when my SIL and I were out shopping, I saw that it was still on sale so I bought the smokey eye one and a lip tint which was only $1. I figure if I don't like any of them, I can just give them to my SIL since she used elf stuff.

I wish I could use ELF but it breaks me out and makes my eyelids scaley. My skin is so super finicky. I want to try the primer but I'm scared since I know the eyeshadows caused a reaction.
I do love Origins Underwear for lids. It's actually a good primer and even a slight color for your eyes.

Ok, so I got the E.L.F. neutrals kit and I'm playing around with it, but went to ULTA last night to get the brush kit you suggested, amandabear, and not only were they sold out, but the kits seemed to be 11 bucks min. (Not even sure if that's the right one, as they were all sold out of almost all of the Eco Brushes, just had a few of the single ones left). Anyone know where else I could look for Eco Brush kits? I mean, 11 isn't bad, I guess, but if you can get them for 7, that's better!

I always get ecotools stuff at rite aid - I have a hard time finding them elsewhere (except target). Mine was definitely 7-8 bucks, and it's 7.99 on amazon and drugstore.com so I don't think it was on sale or anything.

Thanks, amandabear! Their website is confusing to me (it has four lists of places, for different products?) so maybe I'll check out my local Walgreens, Target, and Meijer next time I'm at those places because I don't have Rite Aid. Those places have to be cheaper than ULTA. I'm excited, though- it's been fun to just play with some safe, neutral, light coloring on my eyes! I can't wait to get some nice brushes so I can blend properly.

If you can't find them, the elf ones are pretty good quality as well. I have a couple.

I have two today!! The first is from a strangely themed pink kitty party I went to: and bonus group kitty picture and this one is just from today, I have the day off and my friend wanted me to go shopping...I had too much time to get ready so I went nuts with my makeup. Outfit photo in the other thread! ALSO!! I got a set of Ecotools brushes from a friend (sadly there is no Target in SF) and I love them!!! Used them for both of these looks.
