Not surprisingly, the animal laws here suck and they can take a report and talk to the people, but there's nothing they can do except cite them for having a loose dog. Brian wanted the dog put down, I just want it to not live down the street from us with the other dogs. The guy who came told us there is a pitbull named Mad Dog who they have picked up SEVEN times for biting people, and each time the owner comes and bails him out, so they can't do anything. Even in Tennessee where the laws sucked, at least if the dog bit a person something would happen.
I wonder if they'll see the irony that before they left that card, we didn't know their names or even which house they lived in (thanks white pages!), which is why we didn't call animal control before.

I didn't see this earlier (I don't visit this subforum too often). I'm so sorry that you lost Bonnie, and in such a brutal way. I wish there was a way to hold them legally responsible. A dog that will attack and kill another dog is a big problem and should not be allowed to run around off-leash! I hate people frequently, but most especially right now.

I'm so sorry MBM. I'm so sorry for how unfair this whole thing is and that y'all have to go through it.

I can't really afford to get him doggie anti-depressants so I guess I just have to wait it out? Perhaps a Real Dog™ companion? I'd look into the laws regarding leaving flaming bags of poo on the neighbor's doorstep.

I'm really sorry MBM and Brian. It's just awful that the guardians won't be held responsible for what their dog did.

I'm so very sorry. My little one-eyed dog and I send our deepest condolences. I can't even imagine what you're going through without tearing up.
