So I got it in my head that my contribution to the next Sydney bake sale HAS to be donuts, the baked kind. Only problem is the difficulty in finding a donut tin/tray. I've found this one online http://www.wheatfreeworld.com.au/New%20Layout%20Pgs/INGREDIENTS%20AND%20UTENSILS.html (it's about halfway down the page on the right hand side), but it costs a whopping $28. crazy!

Anyhoo, the purpose of this thread was to ask if anyone here as tried making baked donuts and what recipe you recommend. I think i'm going to use the recipe in Vegan YumYum, it looks pretty straightforward.

Guineapig's new book has a recipe for baked donuts that doesn't require a tin. They're filled donuts, so maybe not exactly what you're looking for, but at least you wouldn't need to get extra equipment to make them. I can also vouch for the recipe making excellent cinnamon rolls.

I tried baked doughnuts from a Veg Times recipe - ick. I think it was republished from Vegan Yum Yum. Since then my doughnut pan has been collecting dust! :(

I made the Vegan Yum ones and they were pretty good. It was just time consuming since I have mini donut trays. I don't think I've made them since.
