I just came across some posts about furikake over at justbento. Kind of a dry mix you make and then sprinkle a small amount over rice or on anything really. I can only imagine there are tons of different kinds of furikake. Does anyone know about these or have a recipe they recommend.

Here is a link to one of many on justbento

I bought some in a very large Asian Market in New Jersey. It's pretty good. Most are vegan but some have salmon flakes and the like.

I'm in Japan I'm more than happy to get bento items or whatever anyone wants from Japan if they are willing to trade (nooch and wheat gluten mainly).

They have dozens of different kinds of furikake.

Yeah, Maarschmellow was right. I was thinking a combination of furry culture and bukake.

I adore furikake on rice with tamari. Stir in some avocado to that mix and I'm in heaven. The kind I buy has nori, sesame seeds, salt and freeze dried carrot, spinach and I think some other veggies. Most of them at the Asian markets here include bonito or egg or other animaly stuff, but the one with the veggies is magic.

I may take you up on this offer! I can also send you some vegan butterscotch chips! Mind if I PM you a list?

I love this stuff. They have tons of varieties at Asian markets. I have a pumpkin one right now, but the classic one is my favorite. I make a lot of scattered sushi with it because sometimes rolling maki is too hard. Rice, avocado, cucumber, fried tofu, lots of furikake = easy sushi! Throw some tamari and pickled ginger on top and it's heaven.

Shake-y shake-y ( as my friend used to call it)!
I've mostly seen it in Asian stores, but they also have it at Kroger!

I've been meaning to make this one, but I haven't yet, so I can't vouch for it: http://www.thekitchn.com/thekitchn/asian/diy-recipe-vegetarian-furikake-rice-seasoning-080995
