This. I love working out to lady gaga, britney spears, and madonna! I normally like rock, alternative, and metal but I just can't work out to that stuff.

Today I worked out to Disco Volante, The Distillers, The Gits, Guns n Roses, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Mad Caddies, The Mingers, Teenage Bottlerocket, I Object & Sleater-Kinney. It was awesome!

I spend lots of time making big playlists but then I really just play the same 4 songs for 2 hours.
Talking Heads - "Life During Wartime" (Stop Making Sense version) and "Born Under Punches"
New Order - "Ultraviolence" and "Temptation"

I used to do Yoga to Swans. It didn't work out too well: "namast...CUT MY THROAT."

i realized today I've been running to the same playlist, in order, for a long time. for me, it's all about the pacing. I need it to feel like high/low aerobics, but running. some I'm totally ashamed of, others I am so in love with:

Gimme More- Brittney Spears
The Boys- MIA
Zero- Smashing Pumpkins
LoveStoned- Justin Timerlake
Yadnus- !!!
Oil and water- Incubus
Bullet With Butterfly Wings- Smashing Pumpkins
Sexy Back- Justin Timberlake
Womanizer- Brittney again (oh, the shame!)
Best of You- Foo Fighters
Walk With me- Full Moon Circle (my little brothers old band, man that song gets me pumped up! I highly recommend. i think they're on iTunes)
Lemon Lime- Soul Coughing
Vitamin-Incubus
Aenma-Tool
H.- Tool

I love to end with some serious angry music. Tool is so great for basically getting me motivated to do just about anything.

Kids - MGMT
Misery Business - Paramore
F**k You - Cee Lo Green
Do-Wah-Doo - Kate Nash
Bonified Lovin' - Chromeo
Semi-Charmed Kind of Life - Third Eye Blind
Show Me the Money - Petey Pablo
All the Small Things - blink-182
Are You Gonna Be My Girl - Jet
Scotty Doesn't Know - Lustra
Move Your Feet - JUNIOR SENIOR
Body Movin' - Beastie Boys
'Till I Collapse - Eminem
I'mma Shine -YoungBloodZ
You Get What You Give - New Radicals
G-Code - Geto Boys
Middle Management - Bishop Allen

I didn't realize until now exactly how random this playlist is. Normally, I listen to indie folk rock. When I need motivation, though, things get so gloriously mainstream.

I just work out to whatever I feel like listening to that morning, I usually just put an album or two on my stereo and let it go.

Slayer usually. Or The Black Dahlia Murder. It makes me feel big and powerful even though I'm wee and mild mannered.

If I'm feeling saucy, I'll listen to Death from Above or the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

I listen to a lot of mashups, silly pop and then stuff I can sing along to and *ahem* pretend I'm on Glee.

I'm a total guilty pleasure runner. I love to run to horrible things that make me want to move. My playlist for my run today included:

"Evacuate the Dance Floor" by Cascada
"Granite" by Pendulum
"Hall of the Mountain King" Apocalyptica
"I Like To Move It" by Bang Gang
"Like a G6" by Far East Movement
"Move This" by Technotronic?
"Rhythm Is a Dancer" by Snap!
"Sandstorm" by Da Rude?
"Slam" by Pendulum
"Smack My bisque Up" by Prodigy

Yep....Guilty Pleasures.

i love anything that's complicated enough to keep me good and distracted. lots of different instrument sections and backing tracks are important. pace doesn't really matter, i just need something to get absorbed in so i don't get bored during my workout. though i do tend to go for more ambient-y stuff when i'm doing yoga and quicker stuff when i'm running. i don't make playlists, i mostly listen to full albums because i'm picky about the way my songs are arranged.

lately it's been a whole lot of:
- sisters of mercy
- talking heads
- the smiths
- curtis mayfield
- !!!
- elfin saddle
- bauhaus
- portugal. the man

The Pietasters. I just realized how stupid that is. haha.

I only listen to the strapped live album, it's my fave and it makes me feel 15. :P

This is also the album I put on when I want to clean.

A friend said this is definitely me and my bf's 'song'...er...we don't have a song, apparently we have an entire albums, which features an intro that says, "This songs for anyone who likes to suck boners in truck stop toilets, it's called freak show!"

how romantic. ;)

I don't do heavy exercise, but I walk a whole forking bunch. It depends on my mood. Sometimes I like to kick it to the Smiths, Ryan Adams, Elliot Smith or Tori Amos when I'm trying to walk for relaxation. Mostly I listen to the Banner or Leathermouth because it makes me wanna punch and kick stuff, so I walk longer and faster.

I did listen to Lady Gaga once. It just wasn't the same.

Yes to VNV Nation. I even clean my flat to VNV Nation (especially State of Silicon).
I'm planning to seriously start exercising again, so I'm definitely checking out that Hospital podcast.
Thanks, ppkers, I'm glad I peeked in here!

Recently I've added my boyfriend's electronic based music for when I'm trying to run a bit faster (it also helps to think about how cute he is instead of focusing on how long I've been going or how my body is starting to ache), andddd Fugazi during warm up and cool down.

Does dancing like a possessed monkey in your underwear count as working out? Because if it is, I would say bob marley and bon iver. also:
sometime around midnight-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m53cWa-CdUg
the queen and the soldier-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukbzD88W2DA
us- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fczPlmz- ... re=related (everything regina spector does is forking awesome, but most of her songs start too soft to be good for exercising.)

I really don't like the new album that much but when I was listening to it I was thinking it would be perfect for the gym!
