i'm obsessed with this cornmeal crust i got from a torte in VT a few years ago, it has the best mouth feel my boyfriend demands to have pie at our wedding (whenever that is) as well. I want to have little pies in jars!

My pie-loving cake-hating husband is going to leave me to go camp out on Isa and Terry's lawns.
This sounds FANTASTIC. Though I would cheer the inclusion of savory pies as well - the mere thought gives me memories of Dutch broodjes and the Pie Maker shop in Edinburgh and the little Papusa place near Sticky Fingers in DC we found a couple weeks ago that has a vegan pie of the day. But dessert pies and cobblers yum!!

Ok, I love cupcakes (got the book) but don't really make them all that often (good thing though probably). I love, love cookies (got that book too). Make them more than cupcakes but still not all that frequently (again, probably a blessing in disguise).
BUT, PIE?????????? NOW YOU ARE TALKING!!! Can it be twice as thick as the others???? (Just saying :))
I would love to be a tester too....but then again, there is a REASON I HAD to get AFR ya know (not just because I wanted the latest Isa offering either...)! Probably safer (though more frustrating) to just wait for the book to come out (tell me it is early 2011 and not late 2011, please).
I would also like to throw in my vote (as though you were handing out ballots, right? ;)) for some savory pies in the mix.
Also, my dream vegan pie fantasy recipes (just because I have never seen such a thing but long for it):
1. A real-deal, authentic-tasting buttermilk pie (i never liked buttermilk in my pre-vegan days but i LOVED, and loved to make--because it was easy--buttermilk pie). 2. A real-deal, authentic-tasting egg(less) custard pie, with a creamy, wonderful texture (complete with nutmeg and vanilla). (a variation that I made once-I have no idea where the recipe is now, not that it matters since it was made with eggs of course-was an egg custard pie, sans nutmeg, with a chocolate ganache type layer on top! Wow was that good)
These are not demands mind you....this is just me begging (and whimpering pitifully for effect, if that helps my case any) for them!
Ok, really, what a GREAT start to the weekend....looking forward to the pie book. Way to end the trilogy with a bang (although, i would NOT be upset at all if you decided to make it a quadrilogy and have a book of puddings too....rice pudding, tapioca pudding, butterscotch pudding, pistachio pudding... oh, sorry....got carried away there; OR a quintilogy which would then have pastries and layered desserts....tiramisu, napoleons, cream puffs, tres leches--ok, not a "layered" dessert in the truest sense perhaps but, since it has multiple "components" one on top of the other, I am including it, esp. since the only vegan tres leches i have ever had is a SAD, SAD substitute for the glorious, almond-infused, sour creamy topping topped, moist, sweet, yummy tres leches delight that I USED to make....alas, it was with actual LECHE....and there's the rub!)
Now, I am gonna have to go raid the kitchen for something after all of that (hopefully I will be good and just stick with frozen grapes like a good girl) :)

So excited about this. I even own VCTOTW, but I don't like cupcakes. They are just like small cake and I don't like cake. But pie? Pie I can do.

Oh this is exciting! I love pie, coconut cream, pumpkin, banana cream, key lime, apple, cherry, you name it besides pecan. As much as I would love to test for this book I think it would impossible to test for a bunch of pies. I wouldn't have a clue as to what to do with it all!!!! hahaha.

I'm woth you - I don't get pecan pies. If you test, I bet you'd make a lot of new friends. I know I'd make excuses to hang out with that person who always has loads of pies to be eaten.
