Just popping in to recommend the Superdrug itchy skin cream. My itchy legs, well, stopped itching. Does what it says on the tin.

I'm actually really excited about Superdrug's new(ish!) labelling policy. I found a lime & Ginger shower gel that I love & they have a plum & cranberry handwash that's lovely too.

Yeah, me three with the Superdrug love. I bought some delicious gingery moroccan-style scrub, also nail varnish remover.

Also, bigging up the Co-op own brand stain remover (their version of Vanish oxyaction and all those) - which works a treat in a wash.

Awesome! I'm adding that to my list of stuff to get next time I'm there, we have some really hideous white napkins that could definitely do with some stain removing!

What are people's fave bubble baths? I like lots of bubbles. I use some of the Lush things, and I have a few Original Source things (I do still buy the vegan society approved things). I don't find any superdrug ones to be especially bubbly. Am I missing anything amazing?

I just bought some face wash stuff and lotion from superdrug at the weekend and love them! I also got some of the Simple stuff and love that too.

I don't suppose anyone knows anywhere I can find bleach that actually works? I've been here nearly ten years and have yet to find bleach that actually bleaches (for a point of reference, the stuff you can buy in the US at the supermarket turns dyed colour white in about 2 seconds).

I know the Coop does vegan bleaches. You can buy dye-remover at hardware shops usually. If it's off-white and you want white-white, soda crystals are pretty good. Remember to add vinegar as a rinse agent to make it less caustic as you get it out.

The impression I get, though, is that British safety standards are more cautious. That said, you can normally get all kinds of noxious stuff from chemists.

You might try sodium hydroxide (lye), which is used in soap making. You can get it online, but most pharmacies should be able to get hold of it for you. It's really nasty stuff, the kind that you need to use outside. Don't breath it in unless you like coughing fits.

marks & spencer's (own brand stuff only) are great for all my household product needs. they usually have some sort of buy one get one half price offer on too, so you can combine dishwasher tablets with dishwasher salt or washing powder with bleach or whatever.

I don't think I've ever been to Superdrug before but will definitely be heading there for wash stuff now. Thanks for the recommendation.

There was a thread on old PPK about dental floss & how it's made from a milk (I think it was milk...) culture & also usually coated with beeswax. In the thread the only vegan floss anyone had found was Eco Dent Cinnamon floss.

I found 2 types of vegan floss in Superdrug today, the Totalcare Whitening Floss & the Totalcare Expanding Floss.

They also have razors that are labelled vegan - the moisturising strip is usually non-vegan but it'd be hard to tell in other stores as their labelling isn't uaually as good.

Co-Op own brand razors are vegan too.

It's weird there are 3 decent sized Co-Op's in Brighton & none of them sell razors!

Our big Co-Op only just started to sell them, I tend to buy five packs at a time when I see them because they do seem to be erratic in where/when they are stocked.

I really need to go to Superdrug for all of my cosmetic needs.

Yeah, it's pretty good and hopefully if a store as mainstream as Superdrug can do and is doing this, it'll become more and more widespread!

I have a grotesque fascination with their teatree pore strips. It's so awesomely gross to see the aftermath!

Ooooh I just bought some pore strips from there today and I'm SO excited! They're not the teatree ones, but it's been 8457943 years since I've used a pore strip and I have a billion blackheads. This is going to be the best weekend ever.

I have been using Faith In Nature's Chocolate shampoo and conditioner for a while now, it's really good for dark hair and smells yummy! Also I am leaning towards dying some of my hair pink again, and I was wondering if the dye that I used to use pre-gan is vegan- I used the one in the little tub with the white lid before. Is that one okay? If not, which colourful dyes are vegan? I am not sure what work is going to make of it...

I like Faith in Nature, but at the moment I can only get their products online and they are definitely on the expensive side. Special Effects, Directions, Stargazer, and Manic Panic dyes are all vegan friendly.

Yes, that's the one I used to use! I was rather thinking Jojo will be able to tell me what's good.

Does anyone know what I can use on my hair for eczema? I was using the co-op anti-dandruff shampoo and it worked really well but they don't seem to be selling it in my co-op anymore which is crepe.

Also, the toothpaste and mouthwash in Superdrug are 2 for £1.99 and if you buy the Superdrug brand razor (not the disposable kind) you can get the shaving gel for free. I was very pleased with my little trip there today.

Directions is kinda crappy as is Stargazer & I'm not 100% sure they're vegan & Stargazer were super unhelpful when I tried to find out if their nail polishes were vegan. Manic Panic & Special Effects are both vegan companies that don't test or pay others to do so for them & the dyes are both equally good & long lasting (appx 6 weeks compared to the 2-3 you might get outa Directions) I buy them online from www.beeunique.co.uk .

I love these brands! They're all petro-chemical/sulphate/sillicon free products and (with a couple of exceptions in the Naked range, which contain buttermilk for some odd reason) they're all vegan. You can get them from Boots. Click for links! I promise I'm not on commissions...

Thanks for posting that, Rachwins. Last time I looked at Naked, they weren't quite so vegan friendly (most of their products weren't vegan). I'm almost out of conditioner and was looking to get something new (I've been using Lush Veganese exclusively for the past 5 years), so it's good to see that their volumising conditioner is vegan.
