Not the most creative names, but whatever. Squishypants! I love that.

I've realized over time that my nicknames and voices for my cats mimics the way the sound to me. For instance, Selena, I call her "Angel" but it sounds like I'm saying "an-chew" because she meows at me in a way that sounds like that. Lenny is "Pumpkin" but I call him "poon-kin". Simon is called "simmy-boo" or "sime-boo" for no real reason. Mufasa is "big boy" or "big M" or "haaaaaay" because he meows at me like that. Charlie is "tcher-lie". Sam is "sim!" Bebe is "chee cho pretchy" (she's so pretty) and Mystique is "hey girl" (in a chirpy voice, because she chirps at me). I think that's everyone. Oh, Freddie is just "freddie freddie freddie!"
And, at the shelter, I have developed a sort of voice that nearly every cat responds positively to. Except for the feral cats. But even the cats that are scared shiitake-less respond to it. Makes me feel good. I guess you could call it "cat calling". Heh.
I just re-read all that and realized that I sound like a complete lunatic.

Amos has a million nicknames, but there's a 60,000 character limit on posts, so... I call him monkey, monkey man, monkeybutt, monkeyface, monkey nugget, babe, baby, baby face, baby boy, peanut, peanut head, bud, dude, goof, fartknocker (ex's word,) poopypants, snugglebutt... the list goes on. When he's naughty it's AMOS.WILSON!

Venger (kitty) is variously called: Vengy, Vengy-bum, bum-face, squishy-head, beebo, snugglepuss, sugartits, monstro, fuzzleface, bit-bo.
When I am trying to entice him from a room I don't want him to be in I sometimes get desperate and start screeching "beeeeboooo! be be be be booooo! bee bee booo booo! bebebebebeeeeee!"
Yes, I live alone and am ridiculous.

Too cute guys! I wonder about some of the histories for the names? Stories? Any ways. I have two cats that are litter mates. Merideth has a lot since she is so naughty: Rapunzel (loves her cat tower), Fluffly Butt, Naughty Britches, Miss Puke-ie, Fluffy, Food hound (when she is begging) Shadow: Little Man, Panther (he is black), handsome man, Sir Shadow Le Cat, Piercing Paws, and "Meow-ow" (he says that to us after my husband taught it to him)

I call Cuddles "Sausage" - because my British stepmother uses it as a term of endearment and I find it cute. But whenever anyone asks me why my dog is named Sausage, I say its because all animals have the same parts.
People who aren't vegan walk away from me quickly after that.
A friend of mine calls him Chubbles, but he really isn't fat, just bigboned.

I used to work with horses and kids. One of the horses was called "Hot Dog" and when asked about it we would say it's because that what he would be next year. We were told to stop telling this to (small) children. I can see their point My dog is often referred to as "Dog".

I call my kitties all sorts of silly names. Here are a few: Neko: Zimtschnecke (cinnamon roll) Kaylee: Dicke (fattie), Baby, Babykatze (baby cat) Both: Mieze / Miezekatze (~mogget?!), Süße (sweetie), Schatzi (darling) Sometimes I call them Fratzen (brats) or other bad things that sound nice. Especially when Neko tries to run away (her new game, but she never gets far before she's too scared/bewildered to go on) or when Kaylee has killed another book. (*sigh*) I also sing made up songs to them (about their heroic adventures and stuff) or modify existing songs (pop songs, lullabies etc) so the lyrics contain their names or at least the word "cat". I guess I'm on my way to becoming a crazy cat lady.

My cats are still new so nicknames are mostly in progress. They get the standard Cutie, Cutiepie, Pretty, Pretty Kitty, Kit Kat, etc.
But Beebee has been nicknamed Bieber (a.k.a. Justin Bieber a.k.a. Justine Bieber 'cause she's a lady) by my boyfriend.
