Hello hello everyone, I'm trying to lose weight, I just count calories and stay within' a healthy range. I try and exercise, and sometimes I can do great for like a month and them get hit with a horrible pain flare and be out of commission for another month, then when I start exercising again I have to start all the way over back at like, tiny little bits before I can work up to where I need to be at. (which is at about 45 mins a day)
I'm half venting and half asking what other people do in these situations.
?

Hi there - just noticed this subject and I'm in a similar situation. I have a LOT to say about it, but I'm running out the door now - just wanted to say "hi" and "it's not just you." More later!

I know 4 people with fibro. Its all anecdotal, but they all tell me that getting sun and vitamin D helps keep the fibro at bay. They have all told me that working through the pain helps, as much as they don't want to do it.

Working through it was a huge help for me, but I couldn't do it until I'd already started to get better. At my worst, every millimeter of my body was between eight and nine on the pain scale, and I was too weak to, like, plug in an appliance. Exercise helps? Sure, I'll get right on that. Can you help me up?
I had an upswing in my health when a major stressor in my life went away, and was able to start exercising then. It took a while for this to happen, but the biggest leaps came when I had worked up to doing exercise hard enough to release serotonin. I still have flare-ups but I can generally maintain my health enough not to sink to the deepest places.
So back to your original question - I have lots of periods when I can't work out, between fibro, a bulging disc, and a cartilage tear in my hip. My rule is that I always have to do something, whether it's a walk or stretching or sitting on the couch lifting 3-pound weights. Definitely not an ideal situation, but I seem to be staying afloat at least.
I'm from Pittsburgh too - originally anyway!
