Hey everyone. I'll be in the city tomorrow to meet a friend at Candle 79. Can anyone give me suggestions for a good bakery around that area, preferably within walking distance (up to maybe 15 blocks), so we can go get some treats afterward? I am not familiar with the city at all, so also let me know if there is anything interesting to do around the area. How far is this from Times Square or other good shopping locations?

have you checked Supervegan.com ? they have a map of the city with all the vegan/vegetarian restaurants on it so you can search around for nearby stuff! I can't think of a bakery on the upper east side, but you're right near central park and also museums on the other side of the park.

candle 79 is on 79th street and times square is in the 40s, but also more west. check out a map, it's easier to see than to describe if you're not familiar with the city. Candle has desserts, so you might not need a bakery!

Supervegan was my best friend when I visited NYC two years ago. Candle 79 indeed has amazing desserts, and like ijdi mentioned, it is right by Central Park, which is fantastic. I think it would take a week to check out everything at Central Park.
