I have been vegan for five years and I do not know ANY other vegans. My husband and friends rave over my meals and baked goods but I am always the one cooking because they don't know how to make a vegan meal. Seriously people? It's not rocket science.
It would be nice to meet a few local folks for the occasional get together or potluck with stimulating conversation and a lot of laughs.
Shoot me a note if you're interested in making a new friend in time for the holidays and the new year!

I'm in SF, but after having a donut from Psycho Donuts, I'm almost convinced to move south...

Hello! I suck at consistently visiting forums. But I am in San Jose! My boyfriend and I are both vegan (well, I am still sorta converting, but I'm like 99% there; I have been cooking vegan for years though).
San Jose is a weird little place. People are always in bubbles and it's hard to meet people. It's huge and sprawling and there are surprising corners -- always in a strip mall -- of deliciousness.
Do you like Vietnamese noodle soups? I think there are enough places with veg pho/bun hue down here that a crawl could be arranged.
Potlucks are also a good idea. I know other vegetarians, ex-vegans, and vegan-friendlies, but not a lot of other South Bay-dwelling vegans, I guess.

I'm down in Santa Cruz! And so are some other extremely good people.

I just moved to San Jose and I don't know anybody, vegan or non-vegan. :)

I'm totally in for this. Feb or March works for me, I don't have a very exciting social life, ha.

Sooooo...how about a dinner meet up sometime? When works the best for everyone? Weekends generally work best for me but I can make certain weekdays work if need be.
I haven't really been to any vegan restaurants since I moved here...any good suggestions? I'm not used to having so many options! I'd also be down for a pot luck or a picnic or something.

That sounds good! Anything after Feb 22 works for me, weekends or late evenings are best. My suggestion is Vegetarian House in San Jose - vegan Chinese food run by a cult! Good Karma is good too but often crowded - I guess I'd classify that as hippie food for lack of a better term. But I'm totally open to other suggestions!

How about Saturday the 26th? Does that work for folks? Or March 4th or 5th? (Friday and Saturday, respectively)

oh fun! I'm in Santa Cruz and I'd love to meet you South Bay folks. I lived in San Jose for a couple of years, a while back & I liked living there. I think I might be busy on the 5th, but that 26th could work. :)

yay! That would be awesome to meet you, I've been following your blog for so long! Although that statement makes me feel kind of like a stalker.

The 26th works for me, or the 4th/5th.
