Best breakfast in a long time. That's the best thing I've ever heard in my entire life. What is the magical machine and where can I buy it? I have one that does that from Williams Sonoma. It's absolutely fantastic, though it is a bit pricey. I always get perfectly cooked everything. Here's the link: http://www.williams-sonoma.com/products ... chRules-_-

This one: http://www.zojirushi.com/products/nszcc It's a pretty expensive rice cooker (it was a gift), but I love it. I wonder if you could rig something with a regular rice cooker and a light timer.

My new favorite! Mix a splash of maple syrup into hot oatmeal. Then add peanut butter, flax seeds and cinnamon, stir. Fold in blueberries, strawberries and chopped banana. Garnish with coconut flakes! Yum and filled with varied phytophenols!

I always cook my oatmeal in either vanilla almond milk or soy milk. If I am adding dried fruit, I add it to the pot before the liquid boils so it absorbs some of the liquid and gets softer. Once the oatmeal is finished, I usually add brown sugar, a bit of almond butter or a little bit of pecans or almonds or walnuts (depends on what fruit I am having). Then, sometimes, I top it all off with a good squirt of soy whipped cream which melts all over the oatmeal and is just delicious. I tell myself that I am just adding a bit more soy milk so that makes it healthy, right?

I ran out of oatmeal yesterday, and am starting to panic. What do I eat at night, hours after I eat dinner? What do I eat in the morning? What do I put in my baked goods? I have an oatmeal problem, perhaps, but I need it to live.

I had the same problem and was in a similar panic! Luckily, I just ate pasta for breakfast... Last time this happened, I made couscous for breakfast with the normal (for me) oatmeal toppings. It was disgusting looking, but still delicious.

bumping rather than starting new oatmeal thread.
Love the savory oatmeal breakfast.
I was feeling frisky this morning so I threw about 3/4 cup of cut up parboiled parsnip and 1/4 cup of precooked black eyed beans in with my large flake...little bit of cumin coriander spice and a touch of salt to finish and it was super delicious. I would of thrown some corn kernals in too if I had any on hand.
Want some add some serious pizazz to your oatmeal? Cook it with water that you have boiled beats in and you get a brilliant colored, sweet tasting breakfast.

I mix a tablespoon of chia seeds into the oatmeal and put two tablespoons of peanut butter on top, in the corner of the bowl. After I've finished almost all the oats, I mix in the peanut butter. Same thing every morning. It's heaven. I also always sprinkle insane amounts of cinnamon on top of it.

I stumbled across a recipe for carrot cake oatmeal, so that's next on my to-try list. I usually do peanut butter, mashed banana, and a drizzle of unsweetened almond milk. Doesn't need sugar since the banana is usually super sweet.
I want to try savoury oatmeal, but I haven't gathered the courage yet. I think I want to try it with green onions and kimchi. I have a whole batch that I just made that would love to be used up!

whoa chocolate vegan milk!
i need to make time to go through this thread from the beginning.... i've been having the same ol same ol oatmeal for ages.... oatmeal, milk, raisins, flax seed, banana (when i remember to buy some), and maple syrup. it's yummy.
i've also though about cracking open my can of pumpkin (it didn't end up getting used at thanksgiving) and star stirring some into my oatmeal just for fun and adding in pie-type spices

You should look into it. My oatmeal usually has frozen berries mixed in and chia seeds on top and maybe a splash of almond milk.

It's great when you want dessert for dinner or breakfast! I too do the cocoa powder in oatmeal, though I add a touch of it to raisin/cinnamon mix..its very good.
