I wonder how large of a vegan cookbook list we would need to get past books written by ppkers?

1. Vegan with a Vengeance (because it is the coolest cookbook ever. Even if you make nothing from it, you still want to have it because it is such a great read) 2. Vegan Brunch (I use it pretty much every weekend) 3. 100 Best Vegan Baking Recipes (every dessert I have made out of this so far has been five star) 4. My Sweet Vegan (because the desserts are so unique and the book is such great eye candy) 5. 30 Minute Vegan: Flavours of the East (because the recipes I have tried so far are delicious, fool-proof and fast!)

My cookbook shelf is actually bowing under the pressure of all the lovely cookbooks on it, at present. I went a little vegan-cookbook crazy when I converted to vegetarianism this fall, and am now a 5-day a week vegan, looking to transition the cheese out on those other 2 days a week at some point. I figure something is better than nothing right now. Anyway, my favorites: 1. Vegan Soul Kitchen is actually one of the first cookbooks that got me crazy about vegan cooking. The citrus collards changed my world, and the bbq tempeh changed my husband's. It is our favorite protein at this house. He begs for the slaw too. 2. VCTOTW is ruining my attempts to take off that last 15 pounds. I just want to keep trying new cookies and re-making new favorites. I need to start taking all but a couple of cookies with me and pawn them off on my students. 3. AFR is always out on my counter within 24 hours of putting it back on the shelf. Brussels sprout hash is awesome. 4. Color Me Vegan- I'm not crazy about the organization by color, because I always forget where my favorite recipes are, but the minestrone is pretty awesome, as is the orange-glazed tempeh. 5. Viva Vegan and I are having a serious off-again phase, but this is mostly because for the 3 months after I got it, I ate something from it almost 5 days a week. I needed to branch out. That and the last time I made beans I doubled the spices (unintentionally... forget they were already in there) and my mouth is still burning.
Now, Urban Vegan and I are still getting to know one another well, we've had a first and second date, and it's gone well so far. Chickpeas, tomatoes, and spinach is fast, easy, and yummy. Vegan Table has been about 50/50 for me... I've really liked 3 of the recipes, really didn't like the other three I've made. And I just got a few new ones in the mail this week. Seriously, this vegan cookbook addiction is serious business.

A recent vegan convert, here are my faves so far: Radiant Health, Inner Wealth ExtraVeganZa Moosewood Restaurant Cooking for Health (vegetarian cookbook, but a lot are vegan or can be easily changed) I also think Love Soup (vegetarian but lots of vegan options) has been great based on everything I want to make. I can't wait for local (and backyard) produce to devour this cookbook. The first recipe I tried was fabulous, to boot: http://www.101cookbooks.com/archives/gr ... ecipe.html

Vcon Vegan Brunch Yellow Rose Recipes VCTOTW Uncheese Cookbook Passionate Vegetarian (by Crescent Dragonwagon) (the vegetarian recipes are easily veganizable)
(The last two are tied)
(I wanted VWAV to be there, but I already broke the rules by having six. Heh.)

Appetite for Reduction will probably knock out Vegan Brunch as soon as I start digging into it more.

Vegan With a Vengeance Yellow Rose Recipes / Potluck Mania Zine Appetite for Reduction Vegan Brunch Veganomicon
I have well over 20 vegan cookbooks, yet those 5 are the ones I use the most and would hate not to have. APR is fast becoming my favorite.

I am one week away from finishing my second year of veterinary school and going to buy myself at least one new cookbook to celebrate (since it will be summer and I will finally have some time to cook!) Thanks for all the great ideas...but now I actually have to choose :/.

...and if Im honest: Happy Herbivore. She is so annoying and she stole most of the recipes and just skipped the oil and I have had a miss/hit experience with her recipes (and kale+ salt is not a salad recipe!) but I like that she has so many photos and everything is fast and mostly healthy
