Iron, Vitamin D, sometimes calcium, sometimes a "ZMA"-copying combo of zinc, magnesium and B6. I take a vegetarian-specific multivitamin only once in a great while, if I take it more than a few times a week I can tell I'm just peeing away all the vitamins, so there's no sense in taking it daily.

Yeah, I started the forum because I wasn't sure what I should/shouldn't be taking. I used to just take a multivitamin every couple days, but I've been trying to be more health-conscious lately. Seems like a lot of people take DHA... don't even know what that is. I'm also thinking I need to take Vitamin D now. I'll be doing my research for sure!

DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) is a type of Omega 3 fatty acid found mostly in fish and seaweed, we can convert the ALA fatty acid found in flaxseed, hemp, walnuts etc into omegas that can be used by the body but ALA, EPA and DHA make up your range of Omega 3s. Anyway, this site explains things better:

I take Deva Vegan Multi and Deva Vegan DHA but I bought some B12 sublingual tablets (also deva) because I read they absorb better, so I might start using them.

Thank you! Turns out spirulina is a good source of DHA (just googled it) so I've actually been taking it without knowing it.

I just ordered some V-pure Omega 3, and I looked at my multi and it has everything in it including folic acid, B12 and vitamin D! It's the Whole Foods brand adult multi.

I take a multi vitamin, calcium supplement, cranberry powder, lots of yogurt and flax (not that they are supplements but they do have acidophilus and omegas, respectively). I used to take iron a couple times a week and kelp capsules (for slow thyroid), but I keep it simple now.

I don't remember to take vitamins everyday. More like 5 days on a good week. When I do, I take: cal+mag+D, multi, acidophilus, and B complex.

I'm pretty good about calcium everyday, and I mange the others about 5 days a week.

If you're not taking omega-3s, or eating good sources of them, you probably should as some new study is saying that vegans that don't get enough omegas (and some other vitamins) put themselves at higher risk for heart disease despite all of our otherwise excellent lifestyle choices (http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/20 ... 082307.htm). I have no idea if that's a reputable study or not, but there it is.

When I remember, I take a multi, vegan D, DHA, and sometimes an iron supplement as well. I've been thinking about adding a zinc thing - sounds like ZMA is the way to go?

I take 2 multivitamins, though not tablets. I take a tablespoon of Floravit a day (half the suggested dose) and half a serving of Vega protein/vitamin/probiotic shake at another time of the day. I really like the Vega stuff, even though it tastes chalky and chicory-like and takes a bit of getting used to.

I should probably be taking a calcium supplement, especially since there's a lot of osteoperosis in my family. Suggestions?

I take a multi, DHA, & cal/mag/D. I have some higher dose B12 sublinguals that I pop every now and then when I think about it, but mostly I rely on the 1667% in my multi, plus nooch and fortified foods for B12.

Every morning I take Vitex Agnus Castus, Floradix liquid iron, Grant's liquid Vit B, Deva Hair & Nails vitamins, Inner Health Plus (probiotics), Endofem. If I feel a bit run down I take Vit C, garlic & horseradish tablets. And magnesium some evenings before bed.

i used to be crepe at remembering to take vitamins, but my doctor thinks my recurring (long pre-veg) joint issues are probably due to a shortage of either dha or vitamin d, so i've decided it's time i grow up and start taking my vitamins. right now i am taking vitamin d & calcium in the mornings; vitamin b12, probiotics, dha, and vitamin c at night.

i heard that taking a calcium/vitamin d supplement is actually bad for you so i stopped taking mine. any thoughts on that? anyone else heard the same thing?

Obviously, a d overdose is poisonous and too much calcium can be bad for you too (kidney stones), but, assuming you're taking a reasonable dose, the only bad thing I've heard is that some people find it upsets their stomachs. Does that track with what you were told? Or is there something else?

Every day (that I remember) I take:
- multi (without iron - my husband takes it too and doesn't need an iron supplement)
- B complex
- calcium
- iron (slight anemia since I was 4 years old)
- vitamin D

B-12 and D, and I try to remember my Omega-3's. I have multi-vitamins, but pretty much everything that has most of the vitamins and minerals I want makes me want to hurl, even the prenatal vitamins. So, it's back to finding a chewable I like and supplementing. It's hard for me to take vitamins, even when they taste like candy.
