I went vegan long before I ever wore eye makeup, so have only ever used vegan mascara. I tend to buy a different brand every time, whatever I can find really - I guess I'm easy to please. I did like the ones I got from the Body Shop - not exactly cheap, but can be found in just about any city or mall. I also use their eyeliner and eyeshadow, which I buy in a little pack of 4 cubes because there's no way I could afford buying whole pots of individual shades. Plus, just the sample pack is more than I could ever get through in 6 months!

I bought a GOSH one thinking they were all vegan but then I checked and it's only one variety of theirs that is. Boo. It's got beeswax in. I will use it up but it's a shame I won't be buying it again, as I really like it. It's one of the few I've tried that doesn't stick my eyelashes together horribly.

My skincare products from them all say "no animal testing" and no animal ingredients", so I would suggest just going into their store and check the box. I couldn't see an ingredient list on their site for the mascara. If it's vegan I will try it next. I am using ZuZu Luxe now and it's pretty good. I know! hehe. Everything else I have from them has very clear labels, but I'm almost sure the mascara didn't have the ingredients listed on the box. I'll have to check next time : )

i have the tarte 4 day stay and i can't wear it unless i'm near a mirror all day, because it seriously melts off me within a few hours. i don't understand how it can be a stain and leave raccoon rings. On the other hand, i don't know shiitake about makeup so maybe i deserve it. my buddy who is a makeup connoisseur absolutely gushes about it, so maybe it's me.

And I actually have the Full Story mascara right now! I thought that as well. I seem to remember reading an email where they listed two products that weren't vegan - I think one was their eye primer and then some lip product. Or maybe it was all lip products and the eye primer. I don't remember, but I remember thinking mascara was safe.

I use Korres Abyssinia right now (black is vegan, there's a plum color I think has carmine) and like it fine. It's not DiorShow awesome, but pretty good just the same.

waterproof mascaras dissolve in oil based substances, so oily eyelids/extremely moisturising creams would help them to slide right off- I have oily eyelids and experience this on a regular basis. it's awesome!

I seriously joined the PPK a bit ago primarily to post that I just found out my favorite mascara is vegan. It's full of chemicals, but it's nice and cheap and goes on great without clumping, and it doesn't flake off.
It's Wet n Wild's MegaLength mascara. I haven't tried the new waterproof formula, but the original is great! Wet n Wild actually sent me a fantastic email that listed all their vegan products, which includes ALL their mascaras!! Can you tell I'm excited? Finding a good cruelty free mascara was like hunting the holy grail, and then for it to be vegan too? I can't help it, I'm giddy.
Here's what they wrote me:
"Hi Jessica,
Thanks so much for your support of wet n wild!
We are happy to say that our MegaLength Mascara (as well as all our other mascaras) are vegan!
Also, if it would help, below is a list of all our vegan and non-vegan options to make your choices easier!

Wow, who knew Wet 'n Wild would be so helpful? Also it's good news to have a cheap drugstore option. Thanks for sharing that! I was just going to post that I emailed Fresh to ask about their mascaras ( Supernova and Firebird), and while they didn't give me the best answer- they said a vegan list is being compiled- they did say that the only animal-derived ingredients they use are milk, honey, and beeswax. So unless I'm missing something, they should be vegan! I want to pick up the little $10 pack with sample sizes of both this weekend.

thanks for the tip about Wet n Wild- I think I will pick some up. I usually use more natural stuff but I'm tired of spending a fortune on mascara and then just having to toss it.

I imagine so, that's from the official email they sent me in response to my asking if the MegaLength was vegan, and I said in my email I wanted to share the info with the vegan community, soooo.... I mean, I don't work for Wet n Wild, so I can't legally say "oh yeah, go for it" but I can't see why they would be opposed to having their products promoted. Which reminds me, they totally have a limited edition spring nail polish line coming out. Six different pastels for $1.99. Hooray! New polishes (not my blog): http://nouveaucheap.blogspot.com/2011/0 ... ition.html

Aww, shucks! Don't thank me though, thank Wet n Wild, it was so cool that they did that. I had emailed them a few weeks ago, and had given up on hearing back assuming either it wasn't vegan and they didn't want to tell me, or they couldn't confirm with their supply chain if certain ingredients came from plants or animals, but then yesterday that great email showed up in my inbox.
Still, I'm glad I could share with everyone, as I know my experience with cruelty-free mascaras has been terrible, they've been clumpy, flaky, ineffective, just every bad adjective I can think of. The MegaLength is seriously a really nice mascara, period. The only downside is that it is a really wet formula, so it takes a while to dry, and you have to be careful to not get it smudged while you wait, but I can be patient.

I found some iffy ingredients in Joico that made me doubt the whole line was vegan.

I recently bought some mascara from Organic Wear, which is relatively organic and states that it's 100% cruelty-free. Their website says all of the formulas are vegan expect for the brushes which are made of goats hair. It's relatively good mascara and does the job I need it to do. It's pretty cheap and I found it at Fred Meyer.

I checked the mascara before and it has beeswax listed on the ingredients: http://www.organicwearmakeup.com/en-us/ ... 01062.html

Yeah, Ulta lists beeswax in the Physicians Formula Organic Wear http://tinyurl.com/4f26opoPlus I read on makeupalley that it flakes for some people, and I'm not sure what it is about my eyelashes, but they love to flake.

i use the wet n' wild mega volume mascara because i am cheap. it looks nice but it seems to make my lashes dry and icky feeling. it's the first mascara i've ever bought, so i can't compare. is that to be expected?
