Amazon has started shipping Julie Hasson's Vegan Diner. Anyone get a copy yet? I've been waiting for this ever since it was announced. Not sure why I didn't preorder. Looks like the copy I just ordered won't reach me 'til next week. :(

Is this book similar to American Vegan Kitchen? Or is it worth having both?

I got mine!
kdub, I think it's worth having both just from briefly looking at my copy of Vegan Diner last night. There are some things that look similar, but not everything. Although I can't have seitan anymore, the recipes in VD look amazing.

I was just looking at the index the other day and decided that I need it! I wonder if Barnes & Noble will have it this weekend; they usually have books a bit early. And I haven't looked through it yet, but there's a flickr group for tester photos. (eta: Or they're mostly from one person. A PPKer?)

i made the chai pancakes this morning and they were great! it says it makes 7 pancakes but for me it only made 3 5-inch pancakes which was great for just the two of us! i also didn't have spelt flour so i used half white ww flour and half ap flour. i would definitely recommend this recipe!

Saw a blog post today that mentioned this book. I hadn't realized it was already out.
Skimming the first page of the table of contents on Amazon convinced me I must own it.

I saw this today at my local independent bookstore and I may have to go back to buy it. The pictures look great. I also sold a couple a copy of Vegan Cupcakes while there. They were looking for a good dessert book and whispering to each other and I butted in with my cookbook recommendations.

Mine came yesterday and I'm really excited to start cooking from it. I've spotted a couple of typos unfortunately, but only small things. I'm particularly keen to try the different seitans, sausages and patties.

I love this cookbook!!!! I've already made the Fluffy Biscuits and Creamy Sage and Pepper Gravy (which chatter said I should make all of the time). I made the Smoky Cheese earlier and it's setting in the fridge now. Tomorrow I'll make the Pastrami and the Smoky Seitan for sandwiches. I'm sure I'll make more this week for Jacques and the husband to have while chatter and I are in NC.

i made the sweet cornbread last night and it is by far the best vegan cornbread i've made. it is exactly like the cornbread i grew up eating which was so exciting for me! it had a great texture, nice crust, and was great even with reducing the sugar to a 1/4 cup and subbing half the flour with whole wheat. i really appreciate that this recipe has just a few simple ingredients and didn't have an overwhelming baking soda flavor or gummy texture. it was also on the dryer side which is how i like it. yay vegan diner!

I just got this and tonight I made the Not Your Momma's Pot Roast... DELICIOUS. I followed the recipe exactly except I used some beautiful pearl onions and, at the end, made a quick roux to turn the cooking liquid into gravy before sporking it over the roast. Fabulous flavor. I loved all the stuff that went into both the seitan and the liquid. I was totally impressed. I will definitely make this again!

I went to convince myself to order this, but the look inside feature is gone, and it's not in stock in my brick and mortar store for me to paw through.
