Looking for some advice from the NYC-ers. I'm coming to NY in a few weeks to visit friends and one of them wants to get a bunch of people together to do a dumpling crawl in Chinatown. I am totally down with this idea, but was wondering about veggie-ness. Are there places that I should be wary of their veg dumplings? Any places that do veg dumplings particularly well that I can suggest to my friends? They are all omni, so their knowledge is limited to where to find pork dumplings..
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I just know of Vegetarian Dim Sum House and Buddha Bodai (which are both all vegan). I'm sure there are other vegan dumplings in chinatown though.

Yup. VDSH is all day dim sum, but BB is only brunch time.
Rickshaw Dumpling has a vegan option, but I've never bothered with it since we have those two.

Dim Sum Go Go has an extensive list vedge options, as far as meat-eater-friendly restaurants go. Non-vegan ex-girlfriend (NVXGF) and I used to go pretty often. I haven't been in years, though--you'll probably want to confirm that everything is vegan. If you go to VDSH, get the snow pea shoot dumplings! They're not on the menu, but they're great.

I think both VDSH and BB have a couple of things with honey or eggs in them, but they specify on the menu.

Thanks for the replies, everyone! I will pass this info onto my friends and see if we can get at least one of them on the itinerary. Vegetarian Dim Sum House sounds great!

So my friends ended up wanting to go barhopping in th East Village...I still got my dumplings, though! Dumpling Man had vegan soup dumplings! They were mighty tasty! And I might have managed a visit to Lula's afterwards.
Overall, a good night. Check out the soup dumplings if you have a chance!
