I bought a dress from ASOS and it was a size 16 but was way too big for me (which is weird because 16 is my size). But after I had it tailored, it is a gorgeous dress and really well made. I would definitely buy from them again.

WHOA! Where did this thread come from? Obviously I do not cruise the PPK enough. So sad that I'm just finding this.

I have gone from a 24 to an 18. Having major issues finding clothes that I like and look good in. And that I can afford. I used to shop at Lane Bryant, The Avenue, and Torrid (sometimes). But they are pricey. I hate buying clothes online, they never work once I get them home. Old Navy stuff is hit or miss for me. I can wear their tops and dresses, but pants don't fit me yet. Finding jeans are the worst. I am wearing a pair of LB jeans at the moment but they are wearing thin in the crotch and thighs. Which peas me off, cause these forkers were expensive and I had to go to 4 diff LB stores to find them!

I would like to be a 12 eventually so I can shop in "normal" size stores. But I will probably wind up being a 14/16 forever.

My perfect style and stores would be Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie. But they don't carry anything that fits me.

Request: AmanadaBear, I love your art work sooooooo very much! Can you please give us all some plus size hottie pin up cartoons in this thread if you haven't already. (I haven't read the whole thread yet)

No jeans from Old Navy? My friend was once a size 18 or 20 ( I can't remember which but it was definitely 18 or 20) and she wore the Sweetheart brand Old Navy jeans all the time. Have you tried those?

I HATE that. All my leggings are all pilled up in my crotchal area like that. My old jeans too. My Mudd jeans haven't done this, and I love them.

What exactly constitutes "Plus size"?

I have jeans that range from size 12 to 15 depending on the brand. And I totally can't wear the girly t-shirts that places sell. The XL is too tight and any XXL+ are always too short. It's hard to come by long torso shirts. Woe is me, whine whine whine.

I'm also pissy that my rain boots are a little too narrow for my calves, yet the "wide calf" selection of boots is widely too short. Can't a big calfed girl get a pair of decent knee high's? I wear my boots anyway, but they scrunch and wrinkle when I walk and go up stairs.

I don't know which of these you have near you, but I usually find good fit at Dress Barn Macy's, Belk sometimes even JCPenney.
They are all a little pricey on the front end, but all have really good sales so it's just a matter of looking for them.
Dress Barn has my favorite jeans (and other pants) ever. They make a "short" which is different from a petite in that the rise is average, but the legs are just shorter than the average cut. They usually run around $35, but I've been able to find them on sale for $19.99.

I know the size 18 jeans in the store do not fit me at all! I haven't bothered to try and order them online. I will look into the Sweetheart brand, Thanks! I have a gift card for them that I need to spend. I also have length issues for pants and jeans, only 5'2. So that just makes it all a lot worse.

Good info! I always forget to check places like Dress Barn, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls. Have any of you ever tried Ashley Stewart? They have one in my local mall. I found a really cute dress there last summer and the size 16 fit me. Which made me really happy!

I hate beyond hate how all the stores run different. LB runs small and the boobs are always way too big for me. I guess if you are plus sized you are supposed to have huge boobs? I do not! The Avenue runs a little big. Torrid is all wacky. Not even their size 18 jeans fit me and LB's do. Go figure!

I need opinions galls! OK so I have this 'shark bite' cut top that makes me look tent-ish. Do you think it would look OK cinched at the waist with a thick belt? I do not know how to style a top like this. I usually like wearing skinny jeans with it, but then I look to round up top. Help!

This is like the top I have:

so i've tried this and it really depends on the length of the top. if its more towards a tunic length then it works, if the top is too short it looks silly

flowy tops are hard for me because i have giant boobs and those tops make me look like i'm nursing if they're too flowy

Yes absolutely, you can wear the belt right at the waist or a little lower on the hips. I do this all the time. As Stacey and Clinton say, it will bring attention to your waist and gives you shape and definition. Pair it with cute flats, a chunky necklace and you're good to go.

Wearing a belt up high totally depends on your body type. I can't do it because I have a lot of weight in my torso, but I haven't met anybody else that can't wear one!

And GraciaKai, that friend that wore the Sweetheart brand Old Navy jeans is 5'2 or 5'3 as well. I think all Old Navy jeans have a "short" option as well as "regular" and "tall."

Old navy does have petite length jeans. They're still long for me because I have short legs even for my 5'2" height. But my sister who is 5'1" thinks their length is pretty good.

I finally ordered my first eshakti dress. So excited to see it come in. I'm trying the custom size and hoping that it'll work out well.
http://eshakti.com/clothpdpage.asp?catalog=Clothes&srch=birdcage&productid=CL0020039&pcat= I have a pair of black and charcoal round toe 3"heel mary janes that I'm thinking will be just perfect. Thoughts?

Wow I really like that Deearess! And I'm not a dress person at all

I just bought these last night:
Image
pants by CDStadt, on Flickr

Edit: My size 15 will obviously not be that small! Hopefully these work out, 15's have been the biggest size I can wear for a while but this sites clothes seem to run small. I opted for a 30in inseam rather than a 35in, and I'm 5'6. If they're a little short, I'll at least be able to wear them with boots. I don't like to roll pants cuffs so I figured if they're too long I won't really wear them.

Alloy.com

Sorry, I thought I mentioned the site! They're on clearance now so they're about twenty bucks, and it's the larger sizes that are still available!

Thanks for the backup, ladies! Now just waiting.
And they've gone and added one of my favorite dresses in green. I have a feeling that I'll be buying a couple more soon.

This thread made me realise that maybe I can wear jeans! I wear pants maybe once every few weeks, just because I can't find any that fit me nicely. Dresses are easier. For people that have ordered from Torrid, is their size chart pretty accurate? I'm sick of ordering clothes online only to realise that their measurements were way off. It's been so long since I bought jeans that I don't even know what size I am.

That's interesting because it's the polar opposite for me. I have to have the bottom and top separate. Dresses always look horrible on me.
