yeah, me too. i love durian (and jackfruit), natto, coconut water, seaweed, and I've eaten most of the evil non-vegan crepe that's been listed and a lot of even worse stuff that I'm not going to list.

Out of all the awful things I ate, I think the worst was cambodian fermented fish sauce (prahok) - compared to it, chinese fermented stinky tofu smells like flowers.
A close second- the time that my last bag of precious nooch went moldy and I was trying to get some last edible flakes from the bag..... I wanted it so bad and it so didn't work out. FYI, moldy nooch smells and tastes like cat peas. Been nooch-free now for almost a year!!! (my mother claims to have sent me some lately though).

The first week I was vegan, I took a block of tempeh and fried it (whole) in a skillet. It took me years to be willing to try tempeh again, but I love it now that I know to follow a recipe!

I wondered how long it would be before someone mentioned marmite!

When I was an omni.. chewy disgusting octopus curry, eel, and peanut butter.. I hate that shiitake.

I haven't really eaten anything bad since going vegan.. besides gross oily tofu and rice i got from an Indonesian place nearby.

The town my dad grew up in is an oil-boom town, and has a big chemical refinery in it. Driving into that town, this horrible wall of smell hits you miles outside it--it's like sulfur and perm chemicals and gasoline. There's a huge occurrence of awful cancers leukemia in people who grew up there because of this plant. (My uncle died from leukemia and my dad's stepdad died from brain cancer, and my dad's got all kinds of weird undiagnosable health problems.)

Anyway, I once accidentally ate a durian candy in Thailand and it tasted how that town smells.

Oh goodness, with the exception of seitan products in a can, those are some of my most favourite foods ever!

When I was little my grandma used to take almost empty chocolate syrup bottles and fill them with milk. This way I could squirt chocolate milk and drink it for fun.
Well, I saw one sitting in her fridge once that had apparently been forgotten about, except I didn't know that. I was super excited and squirted super old, sour, "chocolate" milk into my mouth. It was the worst taste I've ever experienced.

Sour milk is definitely one of the worst things I've had. That's THE most reason I stopped using milk and for the cows of course!

- beer
- soft tofu...if in a stir-fry (BAD surprise when the inside is creamy)
- that mac n chreese shiitake, it's so gross
- pre-vegan - pork chops, and steak. and hamburgers, ugh, god. to think i ever ate that stuff. especially the way my mom cooked it. forking gross. and when i was like 10 my mom used to buy my sister and me those chocolate bar milkshakes for a treat - one time i opened it and it smelled kind of weird but i drank some anyway and then this SLIME went into my mouth and i forking gagged and ugh god i spat it back out, it was like drinking a slug, i ran away to the bathroom, i wanted to die. so so so disgusting.

i'm having a hard time thinking of examples. i want to give specific vegan examples but i can't think of any others right now.

Can this be "most disgusting 'food' I've ever seen"? Because that would be yesterday, at lunch with my parents (at the most veg-unfriendly place I've been to yet, actually), when my brother was brought a plate of bone marrow - pretty much 4 huge forking bones sawed in half length-wise. I BOOKED my asparagus to the bathroom as fast as I could to vomit.

I don't understand why that would be a food, omni or not. My dad would suck the marrow out of lamb bones at the table and it made me cry.

Grossest thing for me? The green stuff in the lobster (which is actually lobster poo... so forking gross).

I used to love os a moelle. Embarrassingly this post makes me totally want a magically vegan version of some.

I kinda love okra, but I've never experienced any sliminess. Maybe because I pan fry it until it's crispy and a little brown around the edges? Don't know...

I did have some really awful, discount tofu from the Grocery Outlet that caused me to bin the rest of a stirfry I had made. I find it painful to throw food out, but it was fairly gross.

I actually like redbull but I think this is the most accurate description of the taste that I have ever heard.

I can't think of anything in particular but when I first went vegan I made a whole load of disgusting things. Including the very first nooch sauce I tried to make.

Pregan:
Eggs. I always sort of hated them but ate them anyway. Why?
Most of my grandmother's cooking, including but not limited to her jello molds, fruit compote, quiche, sour kraut, and cranberry sauce. Give that woman a recipe and she could fork it up in no time flat. (ya, some of those things were naturally vegan, but she died before I went vegan, so I haven't had to eat any of her cooking as a vegan.)


Vegan:
Red bull totally tastes like vomit.
Natto. The slime is bad, but the day my partner nuked some frozen nato I nearly puked from the smell. I've tried a few times, but after smelling it that day I will never be brave enough to try again.
peanuts and peanut butter.

A pickle that had gone bad just this past Saturday. Half a bite and I almost puked.

Calamari. In my high school, the 10th grade biology class used to dissect squid and then fry up the leftover bits. The entire science wing smelled of it for weeks. I tried it (pregan, obvs) and almost puked, and was then reminded of it every day until the stink dissipated.

I also had the raw tentacled sushi-type thing experience. I think it was octopus. Nearly barfed. Me and seafood - we just didn't get along.

I can't really think of anything I've eaten since I've gone vegan that's made me want to throw up.

i accidentally made a nooch sauce for cheesesteaks with vanilla silk creamer once. i wouldn't give up on it once i realized what i'd done, so i just dumped in more liquid smoke to try to cover up the vanilla. tasted like sweet, smoky barf.
