I was really hoping Caroline would turn Matt instead of just healing him.

Are you guys feeling Beremy? I'm so not. I think the show would be stronger if Jeremy just disappeared from the show all together. I like Bonnie, but now her character is weakened by the presence of Jeremy. Grrr
I want that dagger removed from Elijah pronto! Also, I wanted Elijah and Jenna to have relations a couple episodes ago.

I've never thought Jeremy was a great character and I've always wondered why they changed the sibling from a young girl to a teenage boy. I'm not sure I buy him and Bonnie as a couple either, especially as she seemed pretty keen on what's-his-name (Jonas' son). Also, Jenna and Elijah had pretty good chemistry but I think I read the summary for the next ep. and Alaric might tell Jenna the truth, maybe that will bring them back together.

OK so I'm finally up to date with this show! I watched the first one back when it first aired and thought it was truly awful, so never watched anymore. but my friend loves it and keeps banging on about it, so I watched the whole of the first series in a weekend on demand! I still think the first episode blew but it got good after that.
So is it on a break now? there was no episode this week on ITV2 and I notice there's not one next week either, they're playing the bourne films.
I don't like Bonnie and Jeremy together either. But then, I don't really like either character.
Someone needs to clue poor Jenna in already!
I hope Elijah doesn't stay dead.

Yeah, the show is on hiatus until April 7 (in the US anyway). I always tell people that it's not acceptable to only watch the first few eps and that they MUST watch at least the first 10 eps. Each person ALWAYS gets hooked. The show really was geared toward a different audience at first.
Or at least compel Jenna to stop letting people inside of the house!

The first three episode were excruciating.
But now I like it, even if the curse makes NO FREAKING SENSE.

It just sounds like curses always have to have a way out, although I don't understand why the vamp group or werewolf group would be allowed to break the curse, so I don't know why there would be a stipulation in there about that being the winning group and the other group being stuck as they are. That will probably be explained

That's not the part of the curse that bugs. It's the timeline that threatens to break my brain.

Does it help to keep in mind that Katherine is also a doppelganger and could have been born any time after the original?

Quote: I haven't noticed; which part of the timeline doesn't make sense? Does it help to keep in mind that Katherine is also a doppelganger and could have been born any time after the original? In a word, no. Basically: how the Hell did an Aztec get Petrova blood? The show specifically says PETROVA blood. Not, "blood of an Aztec princess that looked a whole lot like this Bulgarian girl." Even it the blood was, in fact, the blood of an Aztec who happened to look European, how the Hell were the Originals so aware of what the Aztecs were up to prior to the late 1490s? The Aztecs wouldn't have been aware of the Europeans at that time – so we'll just say that there were First Nations vampires and werewolves and/or some crossed over on the Asian land bridge. We'll even say that the Aztec shaman was powerful enough to curse every vampire and werewolf in the whole world, even those who were on continents he/she didn't know existed. We still have the issue of 1) Petrova blood and 2) the Originals learning about the doppelganger in the first place. I'm guessing they noticed that something was up when they went outside and caught fire, but who was around to explain the sitch? Did the Central American vampires send messenger parrots? Katherine was running around trying to avoid Klaus in the late 1490's (I think?). If she were the same age as Elena, the curse had to have been cast at least 16-17 years before that. Which makes the idea of Aztec-European communication even more implausible.

This is a pretty big THING THAT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE, though, considering 1)The whole season's hinging around the existence of this curse and 2) It would have been just as easy to say that it was an Egyptian or African shaman, in which case there would be fewer issues. Also, I think Stefan's just kind of weird looking.

Hey, if anyone wants to discuss act breaks on TVD, I can totally do so. I am not the kind of person you tell to turn their brain off!
Damon is hot, but I am often distracted by the crazy eyes, and therefore do not appreciate the hotness. I wasn't entirely sure what was going on there, and then I got to a scene where I was like, "Oh, it's DAMON, not Ian, who's chewing the scenery, here," and then I started to really like the character.
ETA - And I gotta say, the actors are remarkably good at delivering klunky exposition. 2x01 is a terrific example of where the writers were just making the characters explain all the relationships established in the previous season. At one point, Katherine JUST TELLS YOU WHO EVERYONE IS. And ND makes it feel natural!

I though it never followed the books to begin with and the show starts April 7th I believe, but I could be wrong.
