The person who usually organizes it is currently extremely busy with school. I'll get in touch with her and see how we're going to work this. I can probably attempt running it this time but I'd need a lot of help since I have multiple chronic illnesses. We usually do it in front of Locali and it'll be through Bake Me Up! LA: http://bakemeupla.blogspot.com/ and http://twitter.com/#!/BakeMeUp

hey hey, I can help! I would only be able to help with baked goods though like last year (and selling them, maybe?) but not with the organization.

Yay! Okay, so we usually do two bake sales spread out over two weekends and they're usually held at Locali in Hollywood. If you guys know of any place that would be better in terms of foot traffic, please let me know! Should we still do two?
I also thought it might be a good idea to contact some companies (Earth Balance, Turtle Mountain, etc) and see if they'll donate some coupons to help us pay for the baked goods. Earth Balance was good about this in the past and baking can obviously get very expensive. Also, maybe contacting some vegan restaurants in the area and seeing if they'll donate something.. Shojin and SunPower have both done this before. They've also been great about putting fliers up advertising the bake sale. I'll need help with all that, getting the word out, and maybe some help answering emails/posting on twitter if it gets too hectic? Also, this is really small, but I am absolutely horrible at pricing things so if anyone is good with that I would love you forever.
Any suggestions for groups to donate to? Should we keep it local or maybe donate money for aid to Japan? What days are good for everyone?

I think Japan-aid is a good idea. I can help with e-mails and fliers and whatnot; I'm off work Mondays, Wednesdays, and weekends (and I'm free in the afternoons pretty much all week). I've never done a bake sale before so I'm kind of a noob at this sort of thing, but I'm happy to help with the doings of stuff.

I'm happy to help as well. Once a charity is selected, I can try my hand at contacting grocery stores to see if they will donate ingredients or gift certificates so that we can buy ingredients.
ETA: checked out the world wide vegan bakesale website and there is now an event in Santa Monica.

Most days are good for me. I have a really flexible schedule. I live on the east side, near Los Feliz and Silverlake in Atwater Village, but have transportation if need be. Do you want to meet up to talk about things?

I e-mailed the organizer a few days ago, I'm going to be there from 1-3 volunteering.

What day is it? Do they need baked goods or more volunteers or anything? Or do you have the email address?

Huh, so I've been checking this thread for a week and only today did new posts show up for me.. Sorry, guys! Glad there are other bake sales happening. I wish I could be involved with the one for Japan, it looks great! Let me know if anyone wants to do another one.. I'm out of state that weekend, blah.
