So now that I'm doing Couch to 5K, I don't want the weather to stop me from running, but man, it rains so much here in Portland!

I have a rain jacket but it's not designed for exercise and has no vents, and I have no waterproof pants or shorts.

Can you recommend some simply, inexpensive rain gear for jogging?

You can order them online, they have free shipping on this specific jacket. It is by far the best rain jacket I have ever had. It's super comfortable, has air vents under the arms that unzip quite a bit, nice ddep pockets, small hole for you headphones, a tie at the back of the hood to adjust for your headsize... COmpletely waterproof, I have never felt wet in this jacket, it is windproof as well. I am about a size 7-9 and have a large, it is a little loose but I am not swimming in it.

Yeah, Bike shops have good outer shells that have vents and reflectors etc.

I like getting soaked. But I don't really like running. Sorry, so so unhelpful.

I always see people jogging in ponchos. Not exactly fashionable, but really inexpensive, vented and keeps most of your body dry.

I was going to suggest a poncho - never seen people running in them, though. I just bought one for riding my bike in; $49.

haha. Well, I know who to come to when I need advice on getting soaked while walking in the rain.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I don't think I like the poncho idea because of the swish factor. I do like the jacket Momo suggested but I can't afford that much. Something in the $25-50 range would be better.

Not sure exactly what you mean by swish factor, but if I understand correctly, the poncho I linked to has snaps under the arms for the option of sleeves, and a belt on the inside for the option of attaching at the waist, which it doesn't mention in the description.

unless im running more than a few miles i dont really worry about it. i have a rain jacket (a nike one and it was aroudn $80-90) but i still get wet. my core stays mostly dry. i actually worry most about my socks because im prone to blisters. again, a couple of miles and i dont really worry about it, more than that and i tuck an extra pair of socks in my waistband if i dont have pockets, or i'll do a loop and change into dry socks back at my car/house. my friends who train for longer races will sometimes do a "drop" - they'll plan out a route and drive to a point a certain distance in and drop water, snacks, whatever.

i have this concern as well. but mostly for my feet.

that seems like the quickest way to become uncomfortable on a run. not to mention trying to dry out a pair of shoes so that they arent disgusting and having to put them back on in a day or two.

guess its something that one just has to deal with?

I have no advice for the jacket since I need to find one too, but for the wet shoes, I believe the best way to dry them out is to stuff with newspaper.

I think of it as natural air conditioning! But then again, I heat up really quickly and don't mind the rain. I found a Nike jacket on clearance at FM that breathes really easy and I don't feel that I'm dragging around a sopping wet jacket while running in the rain.

I've never worn anything special for rain -- I figure I'm drenched in sweat by the end anyway, whats the difference.
