We live in the 'woods', far back from the road and no kids would dare come to our creepy house, but if they do I'll try to make them some tofu and dumplings or something. :)

I have mini boxes of Mike+Ikes and Hot Tamales. Yes, I've eaten a few already.

We just moved into a very family-oriented neighborhood - we had no idea there were so many young kids here! The past few Halloweens we barely went through a bag of candy but I think this year we're going to be inundated with trick or treaters. I'm a little nervous about how much to buy - does anyone have any idea what a standard amount would be?

One of my friends who lives in a kid-heavy area buys enough for 100 kids and when that's gone turns out the light. That seems fair to me.
I live on a steep hill in an area with a moderate number of kids. Only the neighbours will come to our door though because others don't want to bother with the hill when the surrounding areas at the top are flat.
More swedish berries for us :-)

Swedish fish! I won't buy them until the day of, however, or they'll never make it to the kids.

Airheads and Sour Patch Kids, and CommunistDaughter wrote: I won't buy them until the day of, however, or they'll never make it to the kids. QFT. Also, I think what stores consider to be a "standard amount" of candy is at least one of those ghastly 5-pound MEGA FUN HALLOWEEN TIME bags that are all over drugstore and grocery store aisles right now. Mmmm.

I forgot about turning off the lights when we run out of candy - that makes sense. I'm planning on stocking up on Swedish Fish, Laffy Taffy, and Skittles, and crossing my fingers for a few leftovers.

Nothing. What am I doing for Halloween? Nothing. It's not really a big thing here, there are probably a few parties going on just for the hell of it but I'm in the middle of exam period.

If we weren't going to be out of town, I would be giving out Airheads and Chick-o-Sticks (Chick-o-Sticks tend to show up at Dollar General and sometimes Big Lots this time of year).

Where do you buy the Halloween sizes of these vegan candies? My local mega grocery store just has those chocolatey ones.

I bought all my candy except for Peanut Chews in the Halloween aisle. The Peanut Chews I bought in the Walmart regular bagged candy aisle. My stores have a lot of chocolate candy but plenty of the sugary/non chocolate stuff

Nothin'. We live right on a highway... a tiny two-lane highway, but people still don't trick-or-treat on it. And our house is set way back from the road.
Maybe I'll buy some peanut chews "just in case" a.k.a. "just for me."

I get my Halloween candy (and house cleaning supplies, and dry pantry stuff, and sometimes even my soy milk) at the almighty Big Lots! The one up the street from me has had 5-pound bags of candy for almost 2 months now.

We moved to an area where there's a lot of kids so we stocked up on Twizzlers and Sour Patch Kids, and if no kids show up, screw 'em. I'll happily sit down and eat a box of 100 candies.

I live in an apartment building so no trick or treaters come to us. But maybe I'll buy a bag of candy just incase some crafty kids figure out how to get past the secure entrance. Yeah...for the kids.

I've been trying to find a bag of the mini boxes of Dots. We just moved to a new neighborhood and I don't even know if we'll get kids, but it's the first time I haven't lived in an apartment since high school, so I hope we do. None of the other houses on our block even have pumpkins out, so that makes me sad.

We usually get two trick or treaters at the most, and we usually have some sweets/chocolate to give them. In my old neighbourhodd, you'd get gangs of 16 year olds turning up on Hallowe'en and asking for cash. That was annoying as hell. Aki, your idea is genius!
