My office is holding a drive for "new or gently used books. Raising a Reader works with children ages 0-5, so books should be age appropriate. They avoid distributing commercial books (ex. Disney, Nickelodeon, etc.) and religious books, and also try to stay away from Berenstain Bears and the Mr./Ms. series (ex. Mr. Funny). Other than those exceptions, books (in any language) are appreciated."

If anyone in the area would like to donate some books, please PM me and I'll let you know where you can drop them off (it's near South Station). I can only take books until next Thursday, April 7 since I'll be on vacation after that.

what's wrong with the Berenstain Bears books? Just wondering cause I loved them when I was a kid.

They didn't specify a reason. Perhaps they have too many of these already? I'm not very familiar with either series.

ETA: Having searched around a little, both series have been criticized a bit for enforcing gender stereotypes, so they may be trying to avoid that.

huh, I guess that could be true, still think they're awesome books though.
