I'm hoping the PPK can help me come up with some ideas.
Two people I know, but aren't my friends, are getting married. I'm happy for them, unsure if I'm going to the wedding, may go to the bridal shower. They are in their late 30s and seem to be pretty well established. They are dedicated meat eating omnivores and they are fitness oriented (well they own the gym I go to so yeah).
I'd like to give the bride a small gift for her wedding shower and a combined gift for the wedding. I am struggling for ideas. Only thing I can think of is a gift certificate to a restaurant which aha yeah I'm not sure I want to go there. Its hard because I don't know them well enough personally to know what would be perfect for them. I know little tidbits here and there but its not like I know their favorite restaurant or stores they shop at. I am assuming they don't 'need' anything. So what do I do?

Are they not registered anywhere? This is why people register, so that people who don't know what they want or need, but still want to give a gift, can buy them something they want or need. If they are not registered, how about a gift certificate to a sporting goods store? If they are into fitness they'll need more equipment at some point. Do you know anything about their hobbies or interests that might help you choose another store for a gift card? Do they garden, cook, sail, read, etc.? Then you could get them a gift card to a specialty store for one of their interests.

I second the etsy recommendation--great for unique homewares and cool tidbits.

I like Etsy and have been browsing Etsy.
As for things outside of what they do... they own a gym, work 12 hours (or more) per day, except Saturday (which is only 4 hours of work or so) or Sunday (gym closed). And yeah no registration, its a small wedding, I got the invite a couple weeks ago.

I had a similar situation recently! I bought a couple nice mugs and a tea pot at a design store (so they looked all snazzy) and included some nice tea.
That Etsy print is adorable.
