I nuked it for a minute and a half and the consistency improved slightly, but not terribly so. Help! I was really looking forward to this for lunch tomorrow. that's just what happens to things thickened with starch. It's basically a nooch pudding. add a little water or broth and reheat on the stove or in the microwave and it'll come back to normal. That was my plan. But then when I got to work, it had turned into a runny sauce. Must be from condensation from being in my lunch bag, even though I had an ice pack? Very interesting, these nooch sauces. Very addicting, too. Unless I execute great caution, I can see myself joining a 12 step recovery plan.

I just tried the Easy Cheezy sauce for the first time (also my first time with nooch) and AHHH. The heavens opened up and Mac n Cheeze was given to me on a cloud. Seriously though, it was so good. Gonna try the Tempeh Helper, too.

Put the Cheesy sauce on the tempeh helper. Its a crazy party in flavortown. All full of warm melty goo-eyness.

Guess what's awesome? You take the Caesar Chavez dressing... and put like 3 tbsps of it onto a huge bowl of air popped popcorn and toss. Best. Snack. Ever.
(I made a quadruple batch the other day because I chopped way too many shallots, so now I am trying it out on everything and popcorn is the ultimate win so far.)

I wanted something easy to go with my chickpea cutlets last night, so I made the herb-roasted cauliflower and the maple baby carrots. Those carrots are glorious, I can't believe that something with three ingredients can taste like that.

I just had the mushroom tibs (made with shiitakes) and potato spinach curry. I know they are two different cuisines, but I didn't care. Yums on both accounts, though the curry benefitted from a bit more lime/onion/garlic.
Best thing is that the tibs were too spicy for my boyfriend (when did he turn into such a wimp?!) so I ate a lot of them and look forward to the leftovers.

I had that cauliflower last night for the first time too, alongside the quinoa puttanesca which I'd had before. I really liked it and it gave a bit of crunchy texture which I'd thought missing from the quinoa previously.

Hmm, maybe I should try those carrots. I've been really skittish about cooked carrots since an unfortunate day care incident when I was 5.

Chana saag.... Ooooh yeah. We ate the hell out of that last night.
The Arabian lentil rice soup has been a huge hit with every kid I have offered it to, including a super picky 2 year old who normally freaks out when food other than crackers comes near him. Pro tip: add a couple of handfuls of kale to it when you add the carrots. Will not regret!

My mother bought this book for me for Chanukah. Then I bought a copy for my sister for Chanukah. Then I convinced my mom to buy a copy for herself. Then my mom bought a copy for my sister for her Afikomen present, but I told her that I'd already gotten it for my sister, so my mom found another present for my sister and gave AfR to my aunt. So, through two Jewish holidays, my family has, so far, bought four copies of this book.

Just got this for my birthday. I am basically trying everything. Tonight I'm going to make my first ever tortilla soup.
Loved the onion rings! My 9 year old daughter was very dubious, as she has hated other onion rings in the past and generally detests onion. She says they are "the best ever! Way better than bought ones!"

In hindsight, I don't think the Hungry Jacks ones are technically even food.

I'm not Jewish but a few years ago we celebrated passover with some of Matthew's family. I think over the years they'd let some of the traditions slip but because I was so interested in everything they did it all properly for me. The youngest person there was 24 but we still hunted for the Afikomen and I found it (I may have been taking the hunt more seriously than everyone else). I didn't get a present though. I wonder if it's too late to claim one? :)

Some families let the kids actually negotiate this, other families have presents ready. It's usually small things. In my family, all us "kids" are really way too old for this (the youngest "kid" is 30), but my aunt still gets presents for everyone, so my mom also does. When we were little, each man would hide an Afikomen, and there were the same number of men as kids, so each kid would find an Afikomen and get a present.

So far, our favorites have been: Everyday Chickpea Salad, Chickpea Piccata, Caesar Salad, 2nd Ave Veggie Korma, Spicy Blue Potato & Corn Salad, Curried Chickpeas and Greens, Goddess Nicoise, and Hottie Black-Eyed Peas & Greens.
My (omni) friend and I made the Goddess Nicoise salad last weekend, and she was impressed. That dressing is amazing.

FK!!! I made Broiled Blackened Tofu with Butternut Coconut Rice today and it was seriously one of the best things I've ever made. I almost burned the apartment down because the oven was so hot with the broiler on. Would have been well worth it! Amazing meal.

I've had this cookbook for a few months now and haven't made ANYTHING out of it. I have made so many things out of all of the other cookbooks. I was in my first trimester when I got it and absolutely nothing looked appatizing to me, my hormones were all out of whack. I'd really like to give the book a try this weekend though.
