I have never even heard of this book, but I happened to pay attention to the other book recommendations on Amazon when I was checking out Isa's Appetite for Reduction. Anyone try any of the recipes from this book? I would love a book of veggie burger recipes--sounds promising, but I am wary because I have heard nothing about this book whatsoever.

I checked this book out at the library and ended up being glad I hadn't bought it. I tried a few recipes, including the special french fry recipe, but I found that the recipes had way too many steps and ingredients for the flavor that you got out of them. For example, the fries had to be cut a certain way, rinsed, soaked for 1+ hours, drained, hand-dried with towels to get more moisture out, and then there was a long and drawn out baking process...then they didn't taste any better than the lazy ways I've made them before in the oven. Kinda the same results with the different burgers I tried.
The other thing I didn't like about the book is that most of the burger recipes call for eggs--so I didn't even bother trying to make the ones that had egg because I didn't want to deal with the egg sub, etc. Also lots of cheese which is easy to just eliminate or use vegan cheese.
I would recommend that you get it at the library first and see if the recipes fit your cooking style or not. It does have a huge variety of burgers (if you're good at subbing the egg stuff), and there are some good condiment/side stuff in there too, like burger buns, fries, sauces, although most of them were yogurt based.
Sorry to overload w/ info; hope it's helpful though!

I am suppose to get a review copy; it is a vegetarian cookbook and he said most things can be made vegan...it seems to be doing pretty well. I fry chips at home and I do not do the soaking step but it is a technical step some restaurants do to get really crispy chips. Will give my opinions when I get a copy.

This is currently only $2.24 on Kindle. Is it worth even that? Any thoughts?

I have it - I've only made the Tuscan white bean burgers, sans egg (tried adding a little gluten instead, not sure if it made any difference) and they were very good and pretty easy to make. Most of the burgers are not vegan, but fairly easily veganizable - I probably would recommend just adding some more liquid until it's the consistency you want. There are a number of other yummy sounding recipes. For $2.24 I would just get it. ;) If you're already a veggie burger pro, it's probably not going to add much, though.

I jist got it, since it was super cheap. I have egg replacer and flax, so it should be easy to sub stuff. Those Tuscan burgers look pretty yum.
