I was told by one of my cousins that everyone in my dad's family has a mole somewhere on or near their sternum. So weird. Cousins, brothers and sisters, we all have that one little mole in the same area. I feel so Danny Kaye right now. I'm going to find out if my brother's kids have one too.

So, any shared birth marks in your family?

Weird! I thought my family was bizarre for having similar marks. A bunch of girls in my family (mom, sisters, aunts, me, more) all have a completely circular, dark brown spot on our left knees. A few family members also have a splotchy, tan birthmark on the side of our lower backs. So far the only people I know for sure who have that are my little brother and sister and myself.

I have red freckle/moles on my body, which are only coming up recently. Started when I was 17 or so, and are still coming in. But my mom has them on her body and back, and says she got them when she was in her 20's as well. None on the arms or legs, just torso, and its the same for her. I believe her mom has them too.

My birthmarks are not shared by the rest of my family though. I don't even know if I have a real birthmark. My mom always told me mine was the mole on the bottom of my foot, but it turns out that is just the mark of where the hospital stuck tons of needles when I was a baby, as I was two months or so early and they had to stick a bunch of stuff in me in the incubator.

My mum, brother and I all have a raised mole on the left side of our necks. I call it my Coco Pop.

Whoa. My mom, brother, and I all have a raised mole on the left side of our necks! I tried to get mine removed but it didn't work, it scabbed over after they froze it but it didn't come off.

Not a mark, but a distinctive pattern, my mother's side generally seems to have had one daughter each, and along the generations, I'm 5'6'', my mom is 5'7'', her mother was 5'8'' and HER mother was 5'9''.

My children will be short. ._.

I used to read novels where there were birth marks that ran in families (usually that was how the heir/ long lost cousin was discovered living as a simple goatherd or something) but didn't know it happened in real life.
I just have my own personal birthmarks. The one on my chest is a small coloured mark that has just about disappeared with time, but there's one on my back which is kind of mushy and I think is really cool.

Hahahahahahaha...ah...yeah. Sigh.

My brother and I have similar left eyebrows, the hairs close to the bridge grow up and are spikey instead of laying nicely like the rest. We apparently look so much alike that several of his straight friends said they could never have sex with me because it would be too weird (oh darn). I don't think he had any of my moles, though.

Bahaha. Yes, yes I have those.

I have a weird red freckle just below my boobs, and I remember my grandpa having the same one in the same spot (he was frequently shirtless). But other than that, no.

Is it a third nipple? I have a third nipple that looks like a really weird mole.

I have a birthmark on my ankle that many people mistake for a burn (it's pink). But no birthmarks that run in the family.

My grandfather and I both have (or had, in his case) a weird second and third toe on our left foot. It's like it starts as one toe and then splits into two toes at the end. It freaks me out (not to share it with him, but that it exists at all).

My sister and I have small matching birthmarks on our cheeks that developed in our early 20s. All the older female relatives I can think of were moled. I have a medium sized birthmark on my back that is rarely seen. I used to be really weird about it when I was younger, but I don't care now.

Me and my boyfriend both has this HUGE birthmark at the same spot on our lower backs (really, it's an inch long). Only difference is that I had to remove mine at the age of 10, so I have a scar instead. Isn't that weird?

We are NOT related! Hah.
