Just something to keep in mind, once you put your work anywhere on the web (even in private groups) it is considered "published" and is usually not eligible for other publishing. Just something to keep in mind if you are interested in publishing.
I write. I went to a high school for fine arts (I was accepted into the creative writing program), did my BA in English with minors in creative writing and French, am doing a dual masters program in English subjects. I've written two novels, have had poetry published in a few literary journals, and wrote a book of poetry as my honors thesis for my BA, which I'm reworking right now to try to do something with. Writing makes me crazy. I can't live with it or without it. If I don't write I feel empty, when I do write I feel terribly inadequate.
I mostly write short stories and poetry (my focus seems to be on short stories the last few years). I'm not much interested in writing novels, plays, etc. While I have written the two novels, and will likely write at least one more at some point (I've got a novel in my head that has to come out, but after that, I doubt there will ever be another), I just don't find the whole process very satisfying. I prefer the precision that comes with short fiction and poetry.
I'm obsessed with writing. Aside from yoga, it is the one thing I do every single day.

I have never heard of that, though that's one of the reasons not to post on a public forum. If you're worried about things like ideas being stolen (though I would not expect that from PPKers!) you can copyright materials or register them with the WGA, east or west. It's never a perfect solution, but there you go. My new LJ account is tigerbitching.

If you just sent me a request to join the community and didn't tell me your PPK name, please tell me and I'll approve you.

I really love writing, but am terrible about doing it. Ever since I graduated and the deadlines ended I've basically stalled.

I would like to join, but I fear I'm too much of an amateur. As I said, I wrote a lot 15 years ago (and had a lot of criticism, which is probably what made get 15 years of writer's block).

I have never heard of that, though that's one of the reasons not to post on a public forum. Every place I've dealt with considers something posted online as being "published" but if you're posting with a writing group in a private forum, they do consider that acceptable (at least with the places I deal with, but you might want to check the policies with the places you might be interested in dealing with). Just to be on the safe side though, I'd post no drafts that I'm considering making anything of on a public forum. Policies I encounter are usually something to the effect of writings "in whole or in part..." being published previously are unacceptable. I try and write every day too for at least a couple of hours (excepting weekends, although sometimes I write on weekends too if I missed some writing hours during the week). I'm actually very disciplined and driven about it. I write poetry and short stories and short creative non-fiction pieces. I always have several things on the go, things under consideration, things being reworked and rewritten as necessary, scavenging old ideas that didn't work elsewhere into a new piece, see if I can make it work somehow, someway. It never ends!

Thank you.

I'm not a writer, but I... Er... Write things. This is the last thing I wrote, I did it a couple of weeks ago. I was going to see a band with a friend, but she got sick and missed it so I wrote this, hoping she could experience the show vicariously. http://www.last.fm/user/the_andychrist/ ... _killed_it. I'm not 1oo% satisfied with it, I think I could have done a little better, but I was in a rush. Someone told me I should send it in to a magazine, but I'm way too punx for that. (that was internet sarcasm) I stopped going to school when I was 1o, so I'm not SUPER confident about my writing. I might register with LJ and join your little group, I crave influence right now.

I write! I wrote a "book" when I was 11 which was insanely bad but because my grandfather was a bookbinder for a living it actually looks like a real book now. Yeah... (It's in Dutch, but I had to have an English title, 'cause that was "cool" for my 11 year old self.) Since then I've written a bunch of slightly less bad fantasy stories, one really dramatic short story and a ridiculous amount of fanfiction (Buffy and the L word, mostly), and I love doing somewhat simpler stuff for Nanowrimo and Script Frenzy. I've never had anything published and I don't generally let people read my stuff, but I love doing it. :) Oh and I'm citinsummik on Livejournal!

I write a lot but never complete anything, which, as FootFace and Vijita said earlier, is always a source of shame and frustration.
I'll join the community when I get home from work!
