Cause I'm excited about mine! Not excited that I have to buy all my plants this year because a certain Sir Didymus dug up my seedlings and pooped in them... but... we tilled the rest of the garden space and put in bunny fencing now I am the proud owner of 650 sq ft of garden! Tomorrow I'm going to plant my broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, leeks, celery, snap peas and shell peas! All dug! All fenced! (my husband and his dad also downed the ugly basketball hoop... then found it out it was too heavy to move. Solution pending) Outside gate! Side view! Garden Gnome!!!!

Hang some chicken wire off the basketball hoop where it is and use it as a trellis for peas...? :)
I'm so jealous of all your space!

Thanks for moving it. Still disoriented by board reassignments. I swear I read every board and was like "Hmm...."

EPIC GARDEN WEEKEND CONTINUES!! I got bunches of planting done today with a couple friends. We planted Onions, Garlic, Snap Peas, Shell Peas, Radishes, Swiss Chard, Beets, Carrots, Lettuce, Kale, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Cabbage, Leeks, and Celery. :D It has beds now! And trellis..es? Trelli? Trellae? Baby onions and garlic Broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, celery and leeks The partitioned off beds. Doing a square foot-esque arrangement out here Here's what's what.. I can't wait til things grow! I love having the green bits of seedlings!

Anek wrote: It looks great! Are you going to water it? I did water it. Right after we finished planting the skies went grey and it looked like it was about to downpour, so I didn't water it then (which is when the pictures were taken!). After a little while and it STILL didn't rain, I checked the weather and they said passing showers, and I went out and gave it all a good soaking!

Also, it may not be so for your husband and his dad, but the basketball hoop casualty is a bit hilarious.

It was pretty funny. I came home as they were desperately working to roll it to the position it's in now. I turned to my FIL and said "This was your idea wasn't it?" and he was like "Yup!" It looks so much better down, but it does leave you with a "now what" sort of feeling! Here's the garden two years ago with the ugly hoop up:

That is a fantastic veg plot, rc - you've got a whole allotment there! You'll be pretty much self-sufficient for veg, won't you? (And I truly love that you have two rows of kale and one row of everything else: I proudly present you with your True Vegan pin with oak leaves).
Can you get some herbs in there too? Sow parsley now for next year, and if you can get winter savory where you are, and you plant it alongside your lovely brassicas it is supposed to deter pests.

We eat a lot of Kale! I also will end up sharing a lot of the veg with my (vegan) friends who helped with some of the planting, so gotta make sure we have enough! ;) I've got herbs in pots on the porch (sage, thyme, basil, mint, parsley, rosemary, oregano, bergamot, scallions), they're coming back from last year. I've also put in basil seedlings in the garden, and sowed parsley, scallion, and catnip. I'm hoping that between this and the half-CSA share we won't need to buy vegetables all summer. Since these pics, I've planted, pole beans, several types of summer squash, melons, cucumbers, tomatoes, and eggplants. I still need to get my hand on some bell pepper seedlings, and figure out if there's anything else I want to put in! I still have space. Haha. I'll try and update my pictures at some point today... I took some new ones.

looks awesome! do you have pathways to walk on in there? that's the one drawback to square foot gardening; the plants are crammed in so tightly that once they're in full bloom, there is no space to walk without squishing something.
the fence looks great! y'all put in a lot of hard work!!

the fence looks great! y'all put in a lot of hard work!! It's hard to tell in the pictures but in the "square foot" section there's a path on one side, then four feet of plants, then a path, then two feet of plants, so you don't ever have to reach more than 2 ft in.
