Hi everyone! I was just wondering if there was anyone in the area that would like to have a friendly meet-up either at The Alchemy or Fire & Spice. I've been vegan for a month and my only friend is kind of drifting away from me so yeah. Time to make new ones! :D

actually, I just realized that fire and spice is just as close to me as tisane and has SOOOO many more vegan options (like the whole menu :)) as for the time, I'm free all for all of the second weekend in june. Any earlier than that, it's way more complicated. Hope this works out!

Is Fire and Spice still open?

their website and facebook page are still up, with no announcement saying that they're closed, but I'll have to call to find out.

Oh, that's weird. A teacher at my school tried to bring his field trip there after the Mark Twain house and it apparently looked like it had been closed for a while.

hm. maybe they went to the wrong spot. legolas wrote: i live near hartford, but it would be more convenient for me to go to Tisane. they are about one block apart from each other, so i dont see where the convenience factors in. also, id pick the vegan joint any day. looks like the topic's author dissapeared. we may just have to forge ahead and schedule something without them!

actually (i thought about this last week and meant to post), i just remembered that Fire & Spice is insufferable in the summer. they keep it so hot in there. i went last year during the the summer and decided to only do take out during the hot months.
maybe we should do take out or plan for fall. :)
where did everyone else go?

if we did take out, where would we take it to? A park or something? And if the people who commented earlier in this thread could just say that they would be able to make it, that would be awesome (talking to HappyVegHead, funapack, and possibly chatter710).

Hi! I don't know much about Hartford, so I can't recommend a park, but I want to come to this meet-up. We could, um, go to Tom Sawyer Day on the 11th? Haha. I'll just ask the friend I have there where she would go.

yay! more people! For other places to go, it needs to be walkable for me (no car/driver's license) so I don't really have ideas for hartford, but there is an "improvaganzia" going on in west hartford, if anyone's interested. But yeah, no good ideas, so let us know what your friend thinks.

so according to the weather report, saturday and sunday are rainy and highs in the 70's (so not hell like today) . There don't look to be any parks nearby (from my google maps search), just a grassy retirement complex. But if we just want shade, let's just get takeout and find a shady bench to sit on (there are plenty on farmington). If the rest of you don't mind walking/driving/whatever-ing a while, we could take it to bristow's field, or whiting lane's. I dunno, I tend to have a lot of bad ideas, but once in a while one of them makes sense.

heh sorry. i havent been on the ppk in like a month now.
i went to Fire and Spice last week though, and not only was the food amazzing, but they seem to have fixed their AC. it was comfortable in there!
legolas, Elizabeth park is like less than 2 miles away from F&S. really nice park too. of course its way too hot at the moment (for me anyways), but there is always eat in.
lets try to reschedule this maybe if we can get folks interested.

I might be in, depending. I'm about 40 minutes away from Hartford, so it depends on whether I'm working or whether I have gas money to get there.

Hi everyone! I know this feed is kind of dead now but I just noticed it and I would love to have a Hartford meetup! I'm the only vegan I know (from this area) so I would love to have more like minded awesome people in my life and not feel so alone! I'm actually starting a meetup group on meetup.com so we can actually get more people involved and organize something for realz! I'll post the link to the page here once it's all set to go
