http://www.myfoxphilly.com/dpp/news/loc ... une_042311"Controversial comments made by a Canadian police officer have sparked international outrage.
Now, women are reacting north of the border and here in our area.
The Toronto police officer, who was speaking during a panel discussion on college campus safety, allegedly advised women to not dress like "sluts" as a way to help prevent becoming a rape victim.
Those comments have spread like wildfire.
Women walking in groups, wearing fishnet stockings are popping up across the country. Their goal is to show women have a right to dress any way they want and not expect to be attacked....the event June 18 at 2 p.m. will involve a speeches and a march from the Philadelphia Museum of Art to City Hall. The page's subtitle is "A person's appearance is not the cause of sexual assault," and the page had been "liked" by more than 300 people by Monday morning."
There is also a Facebook page for the event. If you type Slut Walk into the search it will come up.
A friend of mine posted this on her FB page and I am interested in attending. I thought I would post it here in case anyone else is interested.
