I have a layover there tomorrow. Looks like my options are Johnny Rockets or French Meadow.

I got a tofu boxed lunch thingie at French Meadow once when I had a layover in Milwaukee, and it was the best airport food I'd ever had!

Oh, I love Bayview! My sister lived there for a few years and it's such a great area. That's all.

Or one of the tiny impromptu gatherings we sporadically arrange among ourselves! I've met every vegan I know through Meetup (or the bake sale), and they are a wonderful bunch of people. Also, make sure to check out Vegan Milwaukee. Excellent vegan options in Bay View: Palomino (greasy bar & comfort food), Hue (fresh & tasty Vietnamese), Cafe Tarragon (100% vegetarian, great for GF & raw), Classic Slice (best pizza in the city, IMO), Hi-Fi (cute little coffee shop with vegan chili, falafel, hummus, etc.), Honeypie (more comfort food), and Babe's (soy ice cream & vegan cones!). You're also pretty close to Bombay Sweets, which is an excellent and fantastically cheap & 100% vegetarian Indian restaurant with an awesome Indian grocer next door for all of your black salt & asafoetida needs. And if you ever find yourself on the Riverwest side of town, drop me a line!

steph, you're awesome! that's a fantastic bay view list, and you even taught me two new things! :D i've never been to hi-fi, and i had no idea you could get black salt at that indian grocer. woo!
welcome to milwaukee, SprinkleButt! you did just miss the last meetup, but don't depair: we have one every month. the next one will be a backyard potluck, which is always nice because it's leisurely and casual. i'll try to have it posted in the next couple of days, so please sign up on the site if you want to get the announcement/reminder emails.
another bay view goodie: the south shore farmers market, which starts not this coming saturday, but the one after that. east side ovens (all-vegan bakery) is always there, and sometimes the satellite crepe cart is, too (they have a vegan batter option).

Oh man. I never thought I'd be in a bar so "close" to Minneapolis that serves better bar food than the Triple Rock. Palamino is where it's at, yo!

You did miss a good meetup though, it was tasty!
Yay for more PPKers moving to MKE, though :) And Bayview is pretty awesome.

I'm moving to Milwaukee(ish)!!! I just got a new job last week in Oak Creek, so now I have to decide where I'm going to live. I'm looking around Franklin, Greenfield and such, but it's still undecided. So excited to be in the area and maybe make it to some meetups!!

Congrats, kdub! A few of my friends live in the St. Francis area, so I'd recommend checking there in addition to the western 'burbs. It's about 15 minutes north of Oak Creek, adjacent to the airport, and just a couple of miles south of Bay View, which is a) THEE #1 hipster neighborhood in Milwaukee and b) home to the vegan-friendly options listed here. The next meetup is a potluck on Saturday, July 9! Come on down! (Er... up!)

yay! another PPKer to our lovely city! I won't be able to make it to the next meet up, but when you move here there should be an outing of PPKers.
