I also was a bit disappointed by the lack of swooness factor for Loras

I was cringing so much during the fight around the moon door (it was different from the book) and the crown scene, I think they're doing a good job with this show. fetalexplosion wrote: Adam Crisis wrote: the casting for the so good in this show
Agree most definitely. Except... is jeoffry supposed to be handsome? because he looks like some elvish eunuch. Well he's a bit of shiitake as everyone would have gathered from the show/books and I don't think he was meant to be classically handsome, I expected to find that his looks matched his character. BluePlasticStraw wrote: I think the only casting I had issue with so far is Loras Tyrell. The Knight of Flowers is supposed to be swoony and beautiful, but I think the actor is kinda fugly. Just not my type I guess. He seems to be a decent actor though, so I'll get over it. I've found a lot of the characters are not what I expected, Sansa is the first one to come to mind and I think you're right about Loras too. The things I find myself focusing on are all the animals they use and the fur and leather they wear.

Joffrey is hideous! made more hideous by what a little shiitake he is! I was actually more grossed out by Joffrey kissing Sansa than I was by the eating of the heart.

I agree that Joffrey is hideous. I like all the casting except for him and Sansa. That girl they have playing Sansa is a terrible actress.

Sansa is an annoying, starstruck idiot in the book and she is doing a very good job of portraying that so far. It may not be an entirely accurate representation to the book but I find I want her written off as much in the series as in the book.

I have been reading the first book and I am really enjoying the show so far. I actually think it is the best adaptation I have watched because (apart from the parts already mentioned) it is pretty true to the books.
I love how much Jaime Lannister looks like Prince Charming from Shrek.

Way too many things happened this episode! I'm still processing it all. I'm scared of what will happen to the Starks now. I can't wait till next week. This show is way too awesome.
Although, the casual butchering of the animal in the first scene was gross as hell and the girl on girl brothel scene was very distracting. I think Littlefinger was saying important things that I totally missed.
I started reading the books and it is amazing how closely the show is following it. I'm definitely not used to that. Most movies/shows don't match up to the book at all. I'm not very far into the book though so we'll see if it stays that way.

I'm in love with this show now. I love it because stuff happens. Know what I mean? On so many shows, it's like they're afraid for anything to happen. I feel like they're going for it. It's awesome.

So much happens in the show because of the book it's based on, they're full of action without being rushed. I read a review that said if you always expect the hero/good guy to win and for everything to end happily and in a predictable way, then his books aren't for you.
I often zone out when reading and ignore everything around me, I'm finding this is happening with these books even more than usual. I love that each chapter is written from the perspective of a different character. I find it hard to describe why I love his writing, maybe it's because I've read too much YA recently so this is such a nice change.
Also, I have a crush on Kit Harington, the guy that plays Jon Snow.

I like Charles Dance as Tywin Lannister but dang, that was a gristly scene.
Joffrey is appropriately crummy.

I read a few articles on Wikipedia and it helped to see the names in writing, but I don't have a problem with spoilers so I wasn't worried about that.
