I was wondering why I couldn't find the garden hoe thread. Here's my garden! Besser block (concrete block) veggie patch: herbs on the outside border with lettuce, kale (curly and dinosaur), sorrel, spinach, rocket (arugula), baby broccoli (I just picked up this seedling at the market, not sure what it's going to look like) Some coriander (cilantro). it's going pretty well Rocket (arugula) from seed, this is so easy to grow The dino kale (calvoro nero) Lettuce and sorrel Carrots Nastriums Cucumber Tomatoes I'm starting

I've said it before: I'm really envious. I still see myself as a long-term apartment-dweller, but gosh a suitable patch of grass or a balcony not on a main road would be nice. Can't wait to see how all your stuff turns out!

Lookin' good v-licious! For optimum success, trellis the plants that vine: cukes, 'maters, etc. I love the creative raised bed approach!

Oh, that's a neat idea! I'm always trying to figure out how to expand my garden without spending a fortune on large pots.

Yeah I looked into buying some sort of garden bed but they are so expensive, like into the hundreds of dollars. These blocks are about $2 each at the hardware store, I did have to get my partner to take me because I don't have a car! He was also a big help getting the lawn even because it's a crazy hilly thing. In addition, I use some plastic pots I got at Kmart and about 5 foam boxes that you can ask for at the fruit store (usually $2 or free). jewbacca wrote: Lookin' good v-licious! I have a few stakes but I might need some advice if something else would work better. :)

What a cool idea! I totally love how you planted herbs all around the edge--I wonder if that will help keep the bugs away?

Everything looks great. I garden in concrete block raised beds too. (least expensive option for me too)
One thing I've noticed is that things grow inside the holes earlier than outside. I think it is warmer inside the holes.

Something attacked my garden again! I'm pretty sure it's bush turkeys, but maybe it was a cat or possum. The main garden (the concrete blocks) is good, they just got the broccoli plants, they ate my cucumber seedling and the tomato ones. :(
