im not sure what it is, either a squirrel or homeless person or something is eating my almost ripe fruits. what do i do about this? i could put a net over the plants, but its not just one plant, its all of them, minus the jalapenos. and i have two berry bushes that are in pots that i would have to net too, and it just doesnt seem cost effective. any ideas?

If it's squirrels, you pretty much have to just make the things inaccessible to them. Squirrels are hard to deter. If it's a homeless person, I guess call the police? :D

I cover my berries with netting fabric from the fabric store. It's about $3-5 per yard. You could see if there's some heavily discounted kind in a bright color or something, ask a manager. Do you have kitties or doggies? I know this sounds gross, but put a couple of turds near the plants--squirrels aren't crazy about moving in on another animal's territory.

Do you have raccoons? They eat all of our cherries in an ungodly amount of time.

Deer? They eat all the fruit at my parents cottage. But only once it's ripe.

ill try the poo thing and the net idea. (i have a dog). its not deer, i live in the outskirts of houston. i imagine its squirrels or opossums or something. its just irritating watching your tomatoes start to ripen and then the shell of said tomato is in the yard.
